I've been to 3 LIVE shows so far and this by far was the best of the lot. We were really tired before they got on stage from all the waiting as we'd been there most of the afternoon, but once LIVE got on stage that all changed... we were charged up and it turned out to be really awesome. Firstly, the setlist was a nice surprise, as I'd been to this website all week and read the
reviews and setlists posted here and was pretty much expecting a similar sort of line-up, but the guys came out and started with Rattlesnake and then went on to Shit Towne. Ed had a bit of trouble with his voice, but the crowd helped out (pretty well I have to say). At the start of the show and again in Lakini's Juice Chad T seemed to have some technical issues with his microphone or guitars or something, he looked pretty pissed off and stormed off a few times to nail a few technicians I'm sure! and Patrick got to his mic and said 'We need a joke up here right now' and Chad was back jamming and stomping again for the next tune. The guys had a really high energy level as always considering they had just played the night before 500 kms away so they must have been tired, but it never showed. They simply rocked! If anyone meets them soon (unfortunately
that chance didnt come my way this time)... but when/if anyone whos reading this meets them soon... tell them that they were just amazing! unfknbelievable. Lots of people in the crowd were coming for their 1st LIVE show and were blown away. So thanks again to Ed, ChadT, ChadG, Patrick and Adam for the music...and all those crew people who make us happy for those 2 hours...thanks to you guys too. And lastly, to the crowd at the show... Im always saying Durban audience lacks this and that and has no spark and no energy etc... but tonight, you proved any doubters wrong, especially when Ed's voice wasn't 100%, the crowd was amazing even with the long waiting and cramped venue. To top that, it was really great to hear people sing every word of every song. Usually you get people who only wait for "Heaven" or "Dolphin's Cry" or "Lightning Crashes"... it was great tonight when people knew the words to "Mirror Song" and "Rattlesnake" and "Shit Towne" which sometimes dont get the mentions they deserve. Cheers to all you guys who made the night great and fun and enjoyable for the rest of us LIVE fans and Im sure judging from the band's reaction they had a great time too. Till the next show... Peace, Love, Unity and Respect. PS - To all the Cape Town fans reading this I hope you guys have a great show and if you manage to speak to the band, bow down for us down here and let em know "We're not worthy! We're not worthy!" |

As always, the Live concerts an awesome experience especially for the REAL fans of the band. I can't think of many better ways to spend an evening than in the presence of Live. Every one of their shows is the best!! |

+LIVE+ Totally kicked butt last night! They really rocked the house down! There was loads of interaction by the band with the audience, which was really awesome. Last time they were here they seemed to lack that closeness with the audience but they got it spot on with this show! Ed really was straining with his voice, think it had a lot to do with his performance the evening before – he joked about having a late night out partying and apologised if he sounded like Johnny Cash! The audience really came to the fore and sang along to every song which was totally amazing, Ed looked completely stunned by the audience’s talents and continually referred to the audience as the "Durban Tabernacle Choir" – it was so nice how he complimented our singing, which gave me shivers at times – was awesome that so many people knew all the words! As Reza mentioned above, Chad T was really battling and had some technical issues with his guitar. They seemed to get sorted out and he seemed to start enjoying himself. Ed had a huge smile on his face the entire show, he really was having a great time. I was located in the second row, stage left – right in front of Adam and Chad T, and of course Ed occasionally made his way to our side of the stage. Until the end of the show I had barely even seen Chad G – the drums were very far back on the stage and located on the right hand side. At the beginning of the show, Ed announced that they had scrapped the set list and if the audience wanted to hear any songs they should just scream. I am not so sure about the entire scrapping of the play list, they seemed to play the same songs as in the last few shows, but mixed up the order a little bit. |

What a show!! That was definatly the best I have ever seen +LiVE+. (I saw them during TDTH - 2000 in Cape Town, V - 2001 in NY, Pre BOP in 2003 also NY and BOP in 2003 in Durban). Granted Ed was having a tough time with his voice (thanks to the Jozi show) but the crowd carried him and Adam did a great job on vocals too. There was definitely passion there, the guys were having a gr8 time on stage, Pat came pretty close to doing the splits a few times. and the great thing was that they said that they will be back soon, so hopefully that means a new album! I did find it quite interesting that they walked out on stage without a set list, so there was a slight delay bettween songs, but they played a load of TC, SS and TDTH. They only played The river and Sofia off of SFBM. The crowd was amazing (Ed called us his "Durban Tabernacle Choir") and sang pretty much every word except for Mirror Song which even I didn't know to well. It is just quite sad now that it is over ..... lets hope that it is not another 3 years till we see them again!! |

I can only echo what the rest of the reviews are saying - yet another brilliant concert. I just wanted to add that the venue was awesome as it is really close and small - so it felt a lot more personal. I thought the fancy different intros to many of the songs were so good - you never really knew what was going to hit you next - and some awesome guitar and drumming solo stuff by the two Chads at different times - also a really cool moment with Adam, Ed and Chad T all jamming together and another where Ed and Chad T were moment high up on the stage. It was too cool to see how Ed was really enjoying himself up there - he seemed to have that cheeky smile on his face the whole night - and it was definitely a HUGE Chad Gracey night - which is always a big plus. Only one complaint - the venue sold no beer - I have never had such a dry throat - Ed and the guys, I dont know if you read these - Please make sure this never happens to us again - I know you guys would not approve of this sort of nonsense - the Durban Tabanacle Choir needs the same lubrication as you guys up on there stage. |
