The band were absolutely fantastic from beginning to end, unlike the majority of the crowd who cheered and sang along enthusiastically but hardly moved, I was beginning to think there might have been a ban on having fun in Birmingham. They did liven up a bit when the band played Lakini's Juice but it would have been hard not to as it was unbeleivable. The band seemed to be enjoying themselves, smiling all the way through and all the new stuff sounded brilliant. It's hard to pick a highlight from the performance as it was all excellent, but White discussion was almost too good to be true. They played Shit Towne which wasn't on the setlist but had been requested by large numbers of the audience from the begining. Ed asked if we'd like to see them over here more often and and everybody seemed to like that idea so hopefully it won't be too long before they return and hopefully they might even come to the North East and play. All in all an excellent show, if you don't get to see them on this tour you're really going to miss out. |

Went to my first Live gig at Birmingham last night, couldn't get tickets in London so took a 2.5 hour drive. The boys did not disappoint, great gig, Ed was on top form. The support act were a 4 piece band called Kharma 45. I thought they were really good but may not be to most Live fans' taste as they're a cross between dance/indy/rock. I can see 'Ecstacy' becoming an anthem for them. |

The Academy was a smallish venue, holding about 2,700. I'd say the place was over half full at least. The support band, I think, were called Pier 45? Live were fantastic. Boundless enthusiasm and as mentioned in this thread already, they seemed to be genuinely enjoying the show & playing, not just going through the motions. They played a good mix of new and old and even added in a Mental Jewelry track (mirror song) which Ed said they'd just started playing again. I enjoyed the new tracks and also liked the way they didn't force the new album onto the crowd, just playing four or five tracks. The majoirty of the rest of the show was made up of Throwing Copper tracks (which the crowd loved) but the new stuff got an equally impressive cheer. The only personal downer was that we had to leave just as the second encore started so missed four tracks (Ed just announced Sofia as we went out the door). I might be wrong here but I don't think they played anything from V, which was a shame as they seemed to have been opening all the shows until the UK ones with Simple Creed (which I think is a fantastic track). Apart from that, fantastic show. The first time I've ever seen the band perform Live. My wife had seen them at the Big Day Out Festival in Australia a few year back and said they were stunning then - but where even better last night. With the four tracks we missed it must have surely taken the show close to 2 hours long. Hope people seeing them at the Astoria have an even better time. |

Nice concert, full of energy. Only thing was that we had to wait a long time before they started. The location was not to nice - too dark. I Alone was good and Shit Towne was very rocking. Ed was sweating alot and took his shirt off... yessssss. Good setlist and I met some nice fans. |
