The show started with Overcome (instrumental)
playing with the album covers and some band photo's projected on a screen. It ended
with the Awake cover with "RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW" printed over it.
Anyway, quite a nice setlist, with Waitress and Sweet Release. Really from Shit Towne
onwards the show got better and better. We Deal In Dreams came across much better
than on that mp3 from OZ. It was really cool. The Distance was very sweet this way,
beautiful bass of course. Like I Do saw Chad T starting to go really crazy, doing
nice karate kicks in between his stomps. Which of course ended up being dwarfed by
Lakini's Juice, that song rocks so hard, wow. Lightning Crashes and I Alone were
very well done. During I Alone some of Chad's guitar cables got knotted up or something
and after the roadie was finished with it, Chad pretended to strangle him with the
cables. Fun.
The first encore was really great, especially Waitress and White, Discussion. Chad
Taylor was obviously going insane during the last song and ended up slamming his
guitar into Gracey's bassdrum and in the end pushing over his amp stack (onto the
roadie). But soon after it was obvious the audience wouldn't let them off the hook
that easily. So they came back out for Dance With You, Chad having to play an acoustic
(he might have anyway, but now with has amps on the floor he had to). After that
they came back yet again and the roadies quickly reassambled part of Taylor's amp
stack while Ed began Sweet Release. Of course he forgot the lyrics after two lines
and Adam didn't remember it either. From the chorus onwards all went well again though.
They then ended (finally) with All Along The Watchtower, after playing for around
two hours. Really, the ending of this show is the stuff legends are made off. Live
still really does it, especially on stage. Woohoo!!! |

Definately one of the best shows I
have ever been too. The guys were having so much fun that it seemed they'd never
get off stage. I've never seen Ed wave that much while going off. I totally loved
the enthusiasm!
And that demolistic moves by Taylor, firstly destroying Gracey's base drums and after
that his own amplifier tower. Unbelievable. It totally cracked me up.
Moreover it was great to hear 'Sweet Release' again with Ed not knowing the lyrics
anymore. Thanks to Adam, Ed got through it after all.
Another awesome experience added to my live-memory-storage-system! Thanx guys! |

This was just the most freakin amazing show ever.....
the guys seemed to have so much fun, and I'm totally suprised that after the Monday
gig it could get any better...... but it did...... the crowd was just awesome.....
I'm a happy girl now, can't stop smiling... thanks everyone for this amazing experience. |

Okay, DAY 2. Did I say the first night
was AWESOME? Then this night was FUCKING AWESOME! The show lasted for over 2 hours.
The guys were very "fanatic" and White/Discussion drove Chad Taylor over
the edge. He slammed his guitar though the Chad's bass drum and managed to push down
his stack of Amps, winning from his technician who was pushing back at the other
side. Total destruction. Chad, tongue in cheek: "If you want to get rid of your
old guitar amplifiers... Call me!!" |

This was the third time I went to a
Live concert. Ahoy (October 2001?) and the Heineken Music Hall (I guess 2003). Again,
they really rocked!!! I think Live is one of the best bands to hear live on stage.
I love the humor they bring into the show (CHAD T, I love you....) and the old songs
they always play. Disappointed not hearing Turn My Head or Voodoo Lady, but happy
to hear Sweet Release, Lakini's Juice, I Alone and White, Discussion. I love to see
that the band is still so alive and kicking, after all these years. The crowd couldn't
get enough of it and they came back for 3 times! WOW! Great show, great band, love
them! Hoping that they will come back to Holland soon, I will be part of the crowd
again! |

Rotterdam was my first show! It blew
me away I'm hooked. We came in late (don't ask me why) but luck was on our side.
Out of the blue a security guy offered us wristbands for the pit in front of the
stage. Reason: "it wasn't full yet". No complaining from my side though!
Best concert I've ever been too. |

What can I say....? Tueday night in
Rotterdam was THE best show I've ever seen. I've had trouble admitting that, after
York. The setlist, the fans, and the energy were insane, but ChadZilla put it over
the top!
This night I was 2nd in line to get into the venue and when Laura came running around
the corner with our armbands you've never seen a chubby girl move so freaking fast!
(Me, not Dutch Laura). They'd already decided that they wanted to be on Adam's side
that night so I said I'll hit the barrier right between Ed & Taylor and the rest
of you can go to my right. I think it worked out rather perfectly.
There was a different 'feel' even from the first song... insanity and unchecked adoration
was just flying all over the place in there. And that, I think, is the difference.
Here in the states we sort of (not ALL of us, but some of us) take it for granted
that the guys are around and we'll always have another show. We don't 'give it up'
as much. The Dutchies take everything they have and leave it there. Even up in the
upper tier of seats, they're on their feet the whole show, screaming their guts out
and dancing like mad. I made a point to take in some views of the crowd Tuesday night
and watch the audience love this band. It was breathtaking!
Taylor running around trying to lasso up Zach with the cords was hysterical. I think
I was a bit giddy because everything, EVERYTHING, was perfect and funny and wonderful
that night! Even Gracey hitting me in the mouth with a drum stick. Blood? Heh, it's
funny! I'll be fine!!
White, Discussion was the best I've ever seen. Even before Taylor went ape-shit and
started destroying things. When he jammed his guitar head into Gracey's bass drum
my knees went weak. Gracey, by the way, looked NONE too pleased about this. He looked
downright pissed! And I couldn't stop laughing! But really, after seeing THAT face,
I don't ever wanne be the one to annoy Gracey!
I couldn't see Patrick alot during this show, and I forgot to say in my review of
the Monday night show that he looked, actually, HAPPY! He was smiling more than I've
ever seen him on Monday night. He wasn't some lone master of solitude, he was actually
acknowledging of the fans love. It was wonderful!! (Can you tell I had a good time?)
I saw Taylor leaning hard on his stack and I just smiled, I saw Zach struggling with
resistance and then it just went down! Seemed like it was in slow motion and THAT
was when I went nuts! Healing broken arm or not, both fists were in the air and I
was flying! I think Chad standing on top of the carnage was one of the most beautiful
things I've ever seen. Followed closely by 10,000 people singing "We wanna dance
with you" over and over back at Ed. That was pretty fucking awesome, as well.
The guys did NOT want to leave the stage. When Taylor came back after the speaker
tantrum he said "Heh, I guess I'll have to play acoustic now." but he didn't
mean it. Ed not knowing the words to "Sweet Release" was cute but honestly,
I can't imagine he didn't hear US singing it and pick up, because all the people
in my little section sang the entire first verse perfectly! And then, All Along The
Watchtower. OMG! Just like in Orlando, I went crazy when I heard the opening chords
of it! I LOVE that song and I love that guys doing it more!!
I'm sure I'm leaving stuff out...but I'm still a little jet lagged and more than
a little in Amsterdam detox, heh. I know now why the guys love playing there and
you can bet the next time they do, my ass WILL be on a plane to do it all over again!
A million thanks to the Subculture of Live'ers for making me feel so at home! I love
you guys! |

I can't believe that it is a week ago
that I was there in Rotterdam. When a friend of mine called me and said that Live
was coming to Holland I didn't know how long I had to get tickets. But when I heard
which days they were coming I thought this will be the best birthday ever, and yes
it was.
My friend and I had standing tickets, not in the field but there where the people
where sitting down like somebody just died a few minutes before the show started.
It was the best show ever, I have saw Live twice before the first time also in the
Ahoy and the second in the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam.
I will give a review of each song:
1. All Over You: Love this song, and they played it like their life was depending
on it.
2. They Stood Up For Love: Always great to hear this song and see the interaction
with the crowd.
3. Selling The Drama: Well I have to admit I can't remember this song anymore but
I love it when I played in my car or at home.
4. Run Away: Great song and Ed did it awesome. I love the acoustic version more but
you can't have everything I guess.
5. Shit Towne: Wow, alot of energy came loose when they played this song.
6. We Deal In Dreams: I had heard it a couple of times on the radio but didn't like
it that much, but after hearing it live I'm hooked and can't stop playing it in my
car.
7. The Distance: Well done Ed, well done.
8. Running To Stand Still: I'm not a big fan of U2, so I didn't know that number
and could not sing along with it. Liked it, but not my favorite part of the show.
9. Like I Do: Great, love it, amazing, couldn't stop jumping.
10. Operation Spirit: I was glad that they played this song, I love it so much.
11. Lakini's Juice: Wow, the crowd went nuts when they played this song. I was glad
that I didn't stand in the "snake pit".
12. The Dolphin's Cry: Great song, great performance, love it.
13. Lightning Crashes: Do I need to say anything about this song? All time favorite
of mine. The crowd always sings along at their best, the magic that comes along with
this song always has a great feeling.
14. I Alone: I went nuts when I heard it for the first time, and I went nuts last
week.
15. Overcome: The feeling I get every time I hear this song is amazing. When I hear
Ed sing this song live the tears are standing in my eyes.
16. Run To The Water: Great song, I can't remember it anymore that they played it.
17. I Walk The Line: Was new for me, I only knew the chorus.
18. Heaven: was great.
19. Waitress: I don't remember much of it.
20. White, Discussion: Great song to hear live, alot of energy from the crowd and
from the band.
21. Dance With You: Love the part that the crowd sang with it.
22. Sweet Release: I had laughed alot because Ed didn't know the words, well I didn't
know them either.
23. All Along The Watchtower: I didn't know this song but I liked it.
My conclusion is that it was a very great concert and I loved every piece of it,
but the most I loved was when Chad (I donít know if it was him) threw those speakers
down.
I hope they come back soon. |
