Absolutely one of the best Live-concerts
in Holland for years. The guys indeed are very much alive and awake. Ed had a big
smile on his face from start to finish. The audience kept on screaming and whistling,
wow. You could see the boys had a great time and the arena gave it right back to
the band. At least 5 times, the crowd took over the singing part from Ed. It was
really breath-taking to hear a full arena sing along. The setlist was not very different
from the Australian shows. I'm glad Shit Towne was back on the setlist. The boys
played about 2 hours. I've seen Live 18 times so far, and this one is for sure one
of the best. Live kicks ass. Live loves Holland, and the Dutch sure as hell love
Live. The relationship between them is an everlasting one. Thank you for that Ed,
Chad, Chad, Patrick and Adam. |

Laura, Debby & I got into Rotterdam
on Sunday evening to 'prepare'. Awake at 9 am and off to the venue before noon! The
place we were s'posed to wait was different than the regular line so we got to stay
indoors out of the cold. After some discussion we headed over to a bar across the
parking lot to wait until 4 when we'd be allowed into the soundcheck. i still couldn't
believe i was there! Much less had the eTickets that promised us first entry AND
the soundcheck! It was quite surreal. Especially once you mixed in the sleep deprivation
and the ummm other stuff.
Denise, Jacqueline, Martin, Dana, Debby & Laura of course, Ruud, BimBam, Sandra,
Marcia, Anya, Anna and ALLLLLL the rest of the folks I met and that welcomed me so
warmly... you guys were the true treasure in all of this. I never expected such an
amazing welcome. So wonderful!
We headed in for the soundcheck, Jacq was in charge of taking me in and whenever
someone was looking for me, all I had to do was listen for screams of ALABAMA!!!
(that was me, my name for the couple of days)
The soundcheck didn't work out like the guys wanted it to, but Anya got to give the
guys their Santa hats and they liked them. Ed also said he wanted to clone the Dutch
fanclub and send them to kick all the other fan clubs' asses! (errr, we're sorry!
We'll do better!)
We thought we'd have to go back outside to get back in line but we just had to go
exchange the ticket printouts for wrist bands and head back in once the doors opened.
By this point, Dana had hold of my hand and we went TEARING into the venue. Security
was yelling "Don't Run!" apparently, but neither of us understand Dutch
so we kept going. Dana, like my beloved Mollie, is a Gracey fanatic so right in front
of his kit was where we landed, directly on the barricade!
Two opening bands to get through then i'd finally see +LIVE+ in their favorite country!!
I was delirious!
I swear, I was nearly in tears from the first images! I was so thrilled, so proud!
As always, once the guys hit the stage, everything else faded away. I had no idea
anyone was around me, no idea that the world consisted of anyone but me and the guys
on stage.
Hearing "We Deal In Dreams" & "I Walk The Line" for the first
time was absolutely my highlight, well that and Ed going on about Gracey's furry
drum before "Distance". And Ed's 'painted-on' jeans that no one but me
liked. Sue me, I don't care. I'm human. Jeans shouldn't fit thighs like that. It's
wrong I tell you!!
LOVED the show. Simply adored it. LOVED the crowd response which never really died
down, just occasionally got drowned out by the music, loved the people I was seeing
and sharing it with. Ed said the only reason they released AWAKE was so they could
go back to Holland.
I was ecstatic! And had no idea at ALL that I was in store for still more the next
night. |

of Austria |
I saw Live two times in Austria (Vienna
and Graz), both concerts were amazing. In the meantime I became a big fan of Live
and got more and more information about the band. As I knew that they are very successful
in Holland I decided that I MUST see Live once in front of their Dutch fans. December
13th in Rotterdam was chosen to be the time and the place for "Day X".
So my girlfriend Doris and me made the trip from Vienna, Austria to the Ahoy and
every single cent we spent was really worth it. I am glad to put this very special
evening in my personal "book of memories". Although the sound at our place
(on the right side, close to the backstage exit and near to Chad and Adam) was really
horrible - in our opinion the support bands sounded much better - I wore a smile
on my face from the first song to the very last. The crowd knew every single word
and every note from all the songs and sang along with Ed as soon as they started
with "All Over You". After a few seconds we all were far beyond the technical
borders like sound or anything like that. We all were just happy to listen to damn
good music. And feeling, of course. Incredible. To describe a Live-show is nearly
impossible because you have to experience it on your own. Therefore we hope that
there will be another tour which will lead them back to Austria, too. And we are
pretty sure to see them once again in Holland! |
