Very awesome, only problem was the
guitars seemed to be turned up a little to loud and distorted things a bit at times.
But apart from that, very good ... Train ... were .... well .. the less said the
better, I'm not a massive Train fan ... I'm not even a Train fan let alone a massive
one... :\
Anyways .. the opening was amazing, the start of Like I Do was like you were just
having the song thrown at you. The crowd were a bit disappointing for Sanctity of
Dreams, but they kicked in with Stood up, and then when All over you was played the
crowd really came alive! Shit Towne was played to absolute perfection with Ed sounding
great on the guitar!
Pain Lies was awesome, that's the one I really wanted to see and wasn't disappointed!
The crowd though, was pretty dead for it. Run Away got a really good reception though,
at the begining Ed's voice sounded a bit shakey, but by the end of the song it was
spot on, and then stayed spot on for the rest of the night. Sweet Release again was
well recieved and sounded brillient, but Life Marches On kinda sounded like a bit
of a mess of noise ...
I felt like I was about the only person who knew Lakini's Juice before it started,
the intro seemed to leave everyone thinking "what the hell is this?" but
the second Taylor hit that first chord the crowd went nuts, was strange .. the Stomp
was more of a stomp 3 times, then kick, stomp 3 times then kick, then he'd go skip
around the stage a bit ... like literally skipping ..
Ed was making some funny faces at the camera that was displayed on the big screens,
sticking his tongue out and stuff ... he also had a nice cheap shot at Christina
Agulara(sp?) seeing as she has a concert in Melbourne this week sometime .. Ed said
"Everything up here on stage is real, there are no machines, we sold them all
to Christina"
Ed also was sucking up big time to the fans by saying Melbourne as much as possible.
Run to the water .. well it was good, but anyone who knows me knows that it's a song
I kinda wish Live hadn't of written .. I dunno why... I just .. can't get into it
The crowd went even more crazy for The Dolphin's cry, there were about 10,000 people
at the concert, and I reckon the majority now were standing .. I Alone was awesome,
same thing with the opening, the crowd were left going "what's this?" and
then as soon as Ed sang the first line they erupted. Heaven was amazing, at times
you couldn't even hear Ed sing as the crowd was so loud singing along with it, really
amazing.
After that the band went off stage but were back before you could say a word that
takes you longer then 5 minutes to say . well it was just Ed back on with his guitar
to sing Turn my head, which was just perfect. Selling the Drama started off all acoustic
like then the band kicked in and the crowd was rockin again, Lighthouse was amazing,
it sounded really clean and really tight.
Ed said something really, really, really cheesey before Lightening Crashes "This
song is dedicated to ... the children" . and I just cringed but this was the
one the crowd came for, the Melbourne bogans out in force for "loytneen crashes"
the lighters went up and the crowd were singing away, really beautiful.
After that the band left again, but came back almost straight away for White, Discussion
.. infact I don't think they even got off the stage. White, Discussion absolutely
ROCKED, once the song had finished the band left, but came straight back and picked
up where they left off and kept the song going for another couple of minutes which
was pretty cool ... Ed then asked if we wanted one more song .. of course we did!
And we got an AMAZING rendition of Dance with you ... really amazing great way to
finish of the concert .. |

Before I start, I want to thank Live
for giving the best performance ever! It was absolutely brilliant and I couldn't
possibly ask for anything more!
Well, first off, we took the train to Rod Laver Arena, which was totally packed!
And I mean packed! We got off eventually and just sort of followed the crowd to get
inside because we had absolutely no idea seeing as none of us had been there before.
Once we got in we could hear Epicure playing, I really wanted to buy a t-shirt and
I stood in front of the stand and eventually thought no no! too expensive! We went
into Epicure, and I must say they were pretty good for a local band, there weren't
many people there by then, and they were only on for about a half hour but they were
good.
After Epicure I decided to get a t-shirt so we dashed out to get one, and so due
to that, we missed a tiny bit of Train. The guy form Train was awesome, he had such
a huge voice, I was really surprised by how powerful it was, and he moved around
the stage really well, most people looked bored though because the songs were unknown
to us all, and we just wanted Live on already! The only song that really got people
going was Drops of Jupiter, probably because we were all so glad that it was their
last song!
And then came LiveÖIt just topped everything, the opening lights for Like I Do were
amazing, and the screens allowed us to see Ed close up, which was awesome! One problem
thoughÖpeople were sitting down! Almost all of them! I was shakin' my legs I wanted
to stand up so bad! Eventually I convinced Leesa next to me to stand up on the third
song. A couple of others started to stand too, but then they kept sitting back down.
I, however, did not sit down again except for Turn My Head. I found later that the
people behind us were completely pissed off with me because I was "in their
way" and were
making comments such as "it's so rude to stand up, yeah this is a great view"
Hello!!!! It's LIVE, how can you SIT for Live!!!!!! Some people were so stiff!
My highlight was Pain Lies On The Riverside, even though I felt like I was the only
one singing it, I don't think anyone around me knew it, but oh man, he performed
it brilliantly. Ed's shirt slowly was unbuttoning I noticed! Haha, he eventually
decided to take it off, which everyone screamed for. I really think he was itchin
to take off his pants too! Lol, he kept playin with his belt buckle! He also told
us that we make him feel all giddy inside and that Live sold more seats then Christina
Aguilera! Hahaha. Ed just had the cutest big ass grin on his face the whole time,
and he kept telling us how much he loved us. Disappointing though that at the beginning
he was motioning people to stand and no one was! By the end though everyone was standing
(except the annoying boring guys behind us) and the crowd was going mental. They
finished up with Dance With You, one of my all time favourites.
After it we hit the city but about 20 minutes later it hit me that I had gone too
far as always, and I felt dead, so after spending half an hour at Crown we decided
to call it a night. I wish it wasn't over! It all went too fast for me, I just did
not want it to end!
I had one MINOR, and I mean very minor disappointment, I was hanging out for Voodoo
Lady and they didn't play it. This was my first Live concert and I came out thinking
how the hell I possibly let myself miss so many. This will definitely be my first
of MANY to come. Absolutely brilliant! |

Walking into Rod Laver Arena you just
get so pumped, the place oozes with atmosphere. After a few pre show drinks we headed
up to our ridiculously high seats. Train played their set, after seeing them last
weekend i couldn't be bothered with them anymore, same old boring train stuff, apart
from the Led Zepp cover, and they did that Aerosmith song that Eminem put in his
song about a year ago. Finished with drops of jupiter, the crowd sang that one, probably
cos they were happy that they knew it would be the last song.
Out the back a few more drinks and back in too see the lights go down and the roar
of the crowd.
Like I do- The lights at the start are fucking great. I am thinking now they shouldn't
be opening with it, the crowd weren't really into it at all unfortunatly, it seems
to be being wasted at the start. Put it back to the encore I think. The Sanctity
of dreams- good song, played well, I love it .crowd don't know it but. This trend
pretty much continues until they kick in Lakini's. To that point i was dissapointed
at the crowd a bit, they were a little flat, the show was good, the crowd were enjoying
it, but i was hoping they would go crazy. Lakini's Juice was like someone turning
a light switch on however, as soon as Ed said "Melbourne, get the FUCK UP!!!"
Hardly one person in the entire stadium sat down for the rest of the show. The stadium
was rocking all night and the performance fed off this!!!!! Taylor stomped the shit
out of the floor, his feet must need to be iced after each show he hitas that floor
so hard. Ed was intense, he loved it, he loved us. He made a joke about Live selling
more seats than Christina Anguilera has since she has been here, the crowd all laughed
and cheered. White discussion went for ages, Ed went crazy. They walked off stage
after it, then after a minute or so they ran back on stage and kept jamming to White
disscussion. They wanted to keep playing, so they did, discussion wasn't the closer.
Dance with you closed the best show i have ever seen!
It was the most passionate show I have seen them play by far. Live doesn't revolve
around your part of the world, they have fans in other countries, just because they
aren't playing in your country at the moment doesn't mean shit! The passion is still
there folks.
Anyway,we are the most rocking town in the world. The backstage talk was about how
much we rocked apparently. and the fans that did the national tour said this was
the best. I told you it would be!! Melbourne,WE ROCK!
So it will be sad tonight a little as it's the last show of the tour and we will
be saying goodbye. Also i won't see all the cool people i met over the last week,
you guys made this the highlight of my year! I'll see you tonight! |

WOW...That was the best, most energetic
Live show I've ever seen.
Consider that the Melbourne crowd didn't really seem to know "Like I Do"
and "Sanctity" and thus started fairly slow... but by the end the entire
stadium was just going CRAZY and WOULDN'T LET THE BOYS LEAVE!!!
What a show... Turn My Head solo acoustic... Dance With You to close.. Chad T going
off like I've never seen during Lakini's!!! (what was that insane circling
stomp thing!!! OMG!!!!) Ed up close and personal with the camera during Lakini's!!!
Awesome! AND... A special mention re: the stage and lighting etc...
By far... and I mean FAR... the best I've seen for ANY concert at Rod Laver. That
was without a doubt the best Live performance I've ever seen. That was without a
doubt the best Chad Taylor "going-off-his-fucking-head" performance EVER!!!
That was without a doubt the best solo acoustic performance of Turn My Head ever.
AND... Did anyone else notice the extraordinary camera work etc going on? I'm thinking...
"Live in Melbourne" = DVD. I really really hope I see this show on DVD
soon!!!! FUCKING YEAH! |

Brilliant. Absolutely astounding. It
was great to have them back, and Ed without hair once more! I was in GA right in
front of Ed, a few rows back. I'll just add anything the other two left out.
Epicure were alright. The singer's guitar playing was a little out of time, but he
was singing insynchopated at the time... I'll keep an eye out for them in the future.
Train: Well two things really stood out from that show. The singer is Robbie Williams'
long lost twin, and he also likes 'em young. There was a section in one of the songs
where he got two young lasses up on the stage to dance with him. They also got a
trip backstage between Train and Live's sets. He was a very good singer, but he just
doesn't have the presence that Ed has. They're rendition of Led Zep's Ramble On was
a killer, I was just so ashamed that the crowd didn't know it... sometimes I worry.
Pre-Live entertainment for those of us in General was the lighting guy monkey-climbing
across the rig to replace a light. We all cheered him on.
Wow. My throat was completely shredded by the end. To the other two, i was down the
front singing Pain Lies On The Riverside at the very top of my hoarse lungs. It was
the song I wanted most (that I realistically thought they would play), as I saw Beauty
Of Gray back in 2001. Oh and Turn My Head, didnít get that in 2001 either :)
Ed wasn't sucking up to us, he LOVES us. I have listened to a shitload of Live bootleg's,
and I have NEVER heard him talking to the crowd on such a personal level. "Man
I LOVE this city!", "The best thing about playing in Melbourne, is it's
like having 10,000 friends... friends and fans", "Whoa Melbourne, you're
getting me all randy!"
What Mikhail said about Ed's belt buckle was rather amusing, because just before
Selling The Drama someone in the crowd yelled (really loud mind you) "TAKE YOUR
PANTS OFF!!". Ed's cheeky grin had us all in hysterics.
I was really surprised at how interactive Chad Taylor was with the crowd. He didn't
say anything into the mic at all, but he came down close to us and held eye contact
with the crowd a lot, and spent a lot of time over with Pat and Gracey. It was supreme.
Stomp on my friend!
The one thing I want to say is how unbelievably, utterly, stupendously, supremely
astounding the show was. The 4 straight hours of standing was more than worth it.
I just wish I was going again tonight (a seat might be nice, I'm beat!). See you
in 2 years time. |

Got there around 6ish, then we couldn't
get out of the car because Triple M were playing LiVE songs, had to turn it off eventually.
Epicure were great, the singer has a great voice, the best bit was they only did
4 or 5 songs and they gave the crowd their ball back.
Train were good, the Led Zep thing was great, that boy can sing but they just needed
to GET OFF (sorry anyone who's a fan, was just hanging out to see LiVE).
Smoke, more water, back in. Sorry can't do a set list, have the memory of a fish.
Have to agree with Jonesy about the crowd, they weren't really getting into it around
me at the start. Seemed everytime they played a BOP song they sat down again (buy
the ....kin CD), think the guy next to me was really wishing he was anywhere else,
hehe. When the crowd did warm up, they went off, arms in the air everywhere I looked,
an amazing sight. Well done Melbourne.
I absolutely can't believe how perfectly Ed sings, he's god damn amazing. OK highlights
for me, BESIDES EVERYTHING, Lightning Crashes, was dying to hear Ed sing the Angel
open her eyes, don't know whether he hit it or not because the crowd drowned him
out, and they all sang it like Ed, lol.
Shit town was brilliant, one that really stood out for me was Lighthouse (well there
may have been a little distortion problem), but it's never been a real fav for me
until now, it really rocks. Oh and Chads stomp . As Jonesy said they finished with
Dance with You, got the feeling they were gunna keep going, would love to be there
tonight, maybe they will. |

Being my first Live show I wasn't sure
when to turn up for to get a close spot in GA. I arrived a little after 5 to an already
decent crowd waiting. I was pretty close sitting around for the doors to open but
when they did, my side got held up by the security guard. I only managed 4th row
but it wasnít a bad position for the night.
Epicure werenít too bad; their little jams were pretty cool. They acted well as a
support ó playing a few songs then moving off, instead of boring the crowd for 30+
minutes (anyone who went to Audioslave would know what I mean).
Train were surprisingly entertaining. Iíve never been a fan but they put on a good
show. The singer has a great voice and stage presence (and a fine choice in ladies
might I say). The cover of Ramble On was by far their best song, followed by Drops
of Jupiter and My Private Nation (assuming the title is derivative of the chorus
lyrics).
Live superceded all my expectations, completely amazing. I admit the start was a
little slow however; Like I Do was great but I expected it to be really spectacular.
It was a nice hard-hitting opener overall. Sanctity was good but it wasn't until
All Over You that the crowd really got going. Lakiniís Juice pumped so much additional
energy into the show; those screams of ìLet Me Riseî were intense. Pain Lies By The
Riverside was awesome; I was hoping so much that they would play it and it just went
off ó sounds so fresh and compelling. Shit Towne was a great addition to the setlist,
and the I Alone with the cool Audioslave interlude was excellent. Sweet Release/Runaway/Life
Marches On were great - not necessarily standouts for me but seemingly flawless in
performance. Turn My Head done solo was a sweet surprise. Lighthouse was another
highlight for me, it was stuck in my head all day and I just wanted to hear it played.
It doesnít seem like the type of song that would really stick out but itís got great
force behind it with that kind of crushing guitar sound. Selling The Drama was great
for a sing-along, a long-time favourite of mine that I knew had to be somewhere in
the set. Lightning Crashes was exceptional, I need say no more. White Discussion
was my absolute favourite of the night ó such incredible power when played live (not
that the recorded version isnít awesome). Dance With You just topped off the night
perfectly - very emotive.
The show had an excellent mix of tracks throughout instead of focusing just of the
new album. I wouldíve liked to have heard a couple more BoP songs like She and Rivertown
but then I guess we wouldíve missed out on some of the past surprises so Iím not
complaining. Though I only realised just now that we didnít get any material from
V. Iím kind of disappointed about not hearing Simple Creed or even OvercomeÖ but
Iíll live. Iím ecstatic to have just been there, definitely my concert of the year.
In a final note of interest, I thought the big screen footage was pretty cool ó is
this a standard feature at all or most shows now? I just hope theyíre actually recording
it (keeping up hopes for a Live/Live DVD). |

Firstly.....WOW!!!! That was an absolutly
fantastic performance by Live. I've read everyone else's reviews and they have said
that the crowd didn't get into the concert until later in the show...all i have to
say to that is, i didn't notice!!! As soon as the guy came on stage I was right into
it. I didn't care what other ppl were doing. It was like it was just me and Live
in the whole stadium.
It was great to see that the guys were having such a great time up there. You could
really hear it in the music as well.
Can't say that i remember every song that they played, but i gotta say that one really
big stand out was Shit Towne, it was awesome!!! I'm still singing it two days later!!!
Lightning Crashes was great, as per usual!! But then it is my favorite song Dance
With You was awesome, I still remember the crowd singing along to that from the Distance
to Here tour...great to hear that again!! I agree with all those people that said
months ago that Like I Do is great in concert, enjoyed it much more in concert than
i do on the CD
Ok, better not forget about the support bands. Unfortunately only heard the last
one and a half songs of Epicure so can't really say that much about them, but what
i did hear was pretty good. As for Train, absolutly fantastic!! Saw these guys the
other year when they were out and played at the Palace and i forgot how good they
were. Great performers, this time they were even better, i think having a bigger
crowd probably helped there!!
I was lucky enough to have received some Meet and Greet passes for after the show.
I was so nervous. The guys are so cool!!! I've always wondered how singers can sing
so well for a whole concert, cause by about half way through concerts i'm normally
starting to lose my voice...probably partly becuase i can't sing lol. But Ed had
a croaky voice, was a bit stuffed. But was still really friendly and more than happy
to talk to people and take photos and stuff. I was a bit star struck i think, didn't
really say too much to any of the guys.
Chad Taylor said that they had a great time and was the best show of the Australian
tour!!! Was talking to Adam and asked him if he knew anything about the Live DVD
and he didn't know what was going on with that. So lets hope that its still in the
making. Maybe they can make on of the first Melbourne show...it was an awesome concert!!!
All in all this was one of the best nights of my life!!! The only criticism i have
is that i wish the guys could have just kept playing and playing, but we all know
that is asking a bit much!!! But hey, i can dream!!!! |

Didn't make it to see Epicure (saw
them in Sydney) but tonight I thought Train went off. The crowd was getting involved
too, which maybe was the reason why the extra song or two was added. The more I hear
Train perform live, the more I like their stuff. Pat's vocal range is amazing!
The anicipation was skyrocketing by the time Live came on stage, fair enough too,
We all just wanted to see the band we'd payed and come to see. 'Like I Do' began
and the few of us standing in our section were told to sit down! Do you think we
listened??? The stand out song of the night for me was 'Turn My Head'. Ed's voice
just blew me away. Almost brought tears to my eyes. Not sure if it is from pure happiness
of being there or the way that Ed sings as if he is singing personally to you and
only you (forget about the thousands of others thinking the same thing!!). The whole
concert was absolutely outstanding, and the audience just kept wanting more and more!
I was lucky enough to go to the meet and greet after the show. The boys were so friendly
and welcoming. Unfortunately I didnt get to speak to Pat D, briefly spoke to Ed (thank
god I got a photo with Ed), Chad Taylor was kinda cheeky and funny, Chad Gracey rather
quiet and Adam was quite humble but so nice to everyone (my fav!).
Since then, I just keep re-hashing the conversations with all of them in my head,
and hoping that I didnt say or do anything too embarassing... My knees were rather
weak at the time. |
