Live, The best way to experience Live.
Great Audio engineering and the cozy feel of the Thebby Theatre gave Live a perfect
foundation to perform on, and perform they did.
Ed's presence on stage (that shiny bald head and his weird dancing) was in itself
a highlight. Musical highlights were Lakini's Juice (most crowd movement), I Alone
(Most energetic emotion), Shit Towne (Gotta love it), Overcome (great crisp sound),
Lightning Crashes (best sing along), (and the rest). The lack of Secret Samadhi tracks
(Lakini's Juice was the only one) was a slight let down, but the 6 Throwing Copper
songs were a fair trade off. The set list could have been arranged better as well.
Waitress is good, but its not a song to finish such an epic show with. Lakini's juice
or I Alone would have finished it at a peak. I'm also just a bit disappointed they
didnt play Stage, I reckon it would have gone off. But thats way too much whining
about a show that engaged its audience, touched the mind and heart (in a way only
90's rock can), and rocked the house ya'll. Live gets a big thumbs up and a 9 out
of 10 (only cos I've seen Tool live).
As great music is all but extinct concerts like these are a great oppurtunity to
reminisce about the good times when sucking d*ck and selling out weren't what made
bands popular, and people enjoyed innovation and excellence rather than todays forgetable
wash of super-commercial, gold-chain-wearing puppets.
I could certainly 'feel it comin back again'. Cheers Live |

& Heath of Adelaide, Australia |
Where do you begin on what was one
of the best days of your life? I'll try and keep a long story short and start at
the beginning.
After a busy morning Heath and I arrived at Thebby Theatre about 4pm - we had pre-arranged
for some of his artwork to be dropped of with the tour manager. We hung out inside
and watched Iota set up and do some rehersals, which was really interesting. They
are a great bunch of guys.
The tour manager arrived and was really impressed with Heath's work, we were so nervous
and excited, my man... so proud, he said Live weren't due back 'til shortly before
the concert so he would take the artworks down and see what happened from there.
So Iota & the LM finish their set and I really enjoyed their stuff! Heath checks
his phone and there are 3 missed calls! I could have died... So I ran out to the
theatre manager (Thank you Caroline!) and found out it was the backstage number calling!
She told me they were looking for us. Talk about emotional...
+Live+ were about to begin, time to focus... I spent the whole concert on the edge
of my seat. Even though Ed has caught a bug and was struggling a little, it didn't
matter, and to be honest in alot of ways it made it even more special to know that
he went on with the show even though he was obviously not well and suffering. I know
that many Artists would have cancelled... The Adelaide crowd were in fine voice and
helped him along magnificently.
The surprise song was a U2 song (name escapes me at the moment) and my God even with
a sore throat Ed kicks Bono's ass in a big way! AWESOME! Seeing as the whole concert
was a highlight for me it makes it hard to pinpoint specific moments... but one moment
I distinctly remember was Lightning Crashes which holds a very special place in my
heart, as always, I shed a tear or two.
After the concert we went backstage to the Australian tour manager and spoke with
Live's manager he said that the guys were really impressed with Heath's work and
that Ed wanted one of his own (just like the one Heath did for my birthday present)
!! We were blown away!
Then Ed came into the office we all shook hands, had a quick chat and you could tell
the concert had taken a huge amount out of him, I hope you get well soon Ed! We had
a chat with Pat too, what a genuinely great guy, even though he paid us out about
our accents!!
Thank you +Live+ for another very special moment in my life. |

I cannot begin tell you how fucking
proud I am of my home town right now, and how special last night was to me. We were
lined up elbow to elbow along the barrier (of course), about 10 of us. The line started
with my mum right in front of Ed, right down to Adam.
iOTA and the Lizard Men went fuckin OFF!!! As they have all tour (well, I assume
all tour - they were for the shows I saw). It seemed that everyone in the theatre
agreed that they kicked severe arse, except for one dude... with a small penis..
Did anyone see who it was? The voice sounded familiar. Whoever it was needed a good
fucking kick in the teeth though. What a fucked up thing to say. Are you DEAF you
fuckin moron?
The setlist was amazing, as it has been throughout the tour. Adelaide goes psycho
when Shit Towne is played every time.. This gig was no exception.
As it's been said, Ed had caught a "nasty Australian bug", and was struggling
with his voice. It was weird to hear the renditions of certain songs.. but it was
nice at the same time. He gave it all he could. The crowd were really responsive
towards him, and we aimed to please.. I think we did it alright too.
I honestly didn't think that we would get the extra song/s last night, because I
mean.. it's Adelaide!!! But, Ed made us feel really special though when they were
about to play another song for us "this is Adelaide!!" and then saying
that "we'll be back" WOO-the-HOO!!
I can't believe we got 'Waitress' (un-fucked up! hahaha... that's not to say that
the Melbourne-version wasn't cool.. That rocked, and Gracey, although he may have
"fucked it up", he did it with class..)... Ed was sick... they were in
Adelaide... and they CONTINUED TO PLAY!!! Ohh.. so happy.
Backstage was cool. Got my Awake CD signed by all but Chad Taylor. Got photos with
everyone but Chad Taylor. He left pretty quick. The Banner (generic one) was signed
by all but Taylor at the Adders gig too... Pretty awesome. |
