WoW!!! How do u 'top' that??? (Sorry
bout that, no pun intended). I've been to a number of Live concerts now, and even
if I put all the previous outings together they still would have fallen well short
of what was simply the awesome spectacle of Live at Rod Laver Arena last night.
Lining up at 2pm for the show with a mate was more than worth it and we were rewarded
with a front row viewpoint. The supporting band (Iota and the Lizard Men) rocked
hard, and seemed to be lovin' it just as much as the crowd, and even joined in with
kicking a beach ball around.
The prelude to Live was a 5 minute video which went through their whole career, with
photos and a montage of all of their CD's (i think Throwing Copper got the biggest
cheer).
Live opened with All Over You and they went into a ripper rendition of They Stood
Up For Love, and by the time they played Like I Do, Ed has disrobed all but for his
jeans. The Melbourne crowd couldn't get any better, with them erupting at the beginning
of Dolphins Cry, Lightning Crashes and I Alone.
After Ed and the gang went off for the first time the crowd went crazy demanding
an encore. We all knew one was coming, but what came next was unexpected. An encore
of around about 7 or 8 songs, including Run To The Water, Turn My Head, and very
surprisingly, Waitress, which Ed forgot the words to, but was aptly aided by the
die-hard Melbourne crowd. Ed seemed to be loving the night and didn't want to leave
the stage, often coaxing the other boys (especially Pat) to play one more song, and
then one more, and then just one more, and then finishing with the massive build
up and explosion that is White, Discussion. During this song, Ed left the stage,
went out a public exit and went to the back of the arena where he gave thanks to
the sound crew and then stood up on some of the equipment. Upon coming back onto
the stage the song continued and must have lasted at least 8 minutes.
The night was unreal, so good, fantastic, awesome, spectacular, magnificent, stunning
(thats all the words the thesaurus will give me). Overall, what more can you ask
for? The setlist must have been at least 24 songs, and each song was sung by Ed and
played by the boys from one place, their heart. Just by watching Pat close his eyes
and feel the baseline he was creating, you knew the boys were enjoying creating the
music, and the crowd could not get enough. 11 out of 10 or 6 stars for the night!!

Great montage of all things Live shown
on the big screen just before the boys stepped out. Crowd really enjoyed it, cheering
each album as it was displayed and accompanying pictures to go with it. Finished
with "Right Here, Right Now" written on the screen, as the boys stepped
on stage. Goosebump city, I tell you right now!
Awesome start to the show with "All over you", great thing about this concert
was, nobody could quite really pick what the first song would be. Plenty of energy
right from the word go, crowd was right into it ( I didnt sit down all night).
Highlights of the show had to be the awesome "Lightning Crashes", I've
seen the boys 5 times now, and this was definately the best they've performed it.
Kinda seemed theat during "Heaven", that Ed had a little trouble reaching
for the highnotes, but mind you he could of been excused because he had been singing
for near on 100 mins straight by then!
Chad was his usual energetic self, bouncing around the stage almost as if he was
bouncing in the mosh pit himself. During "White discussion" Ed decided
that he needed to hop down into the crowd, and made his way to the back of the arena
and stand on the sound equipment as Chad let rip on his solo.
Suprise of the night was "Waitress", where Ed warned us that they could
quite possibly fuck it up but they were going to play it anyway and "Along the
watchtower", great cover song.
Longest Live concert I've been to, played for just on 2 hours 15mins, the guys looked
like they had an awesome time, I had an awesome time, my throat is killing me from
singing to much so now I'm off to the doctors! Peace! |

I don't have time for writing a massive
review as i am pretty tired, but the show tonight was fucking ridiculous! Ed turned
back the clocks to 1997 when they played here and didn't want to leave the stage.
White discussion was the craziest performance ever most probably. This is the point
when the show went off in a different direction to the usual Live show. Half way
through the song Ed runs off stage and exited the arena. The band just stood up there
playing the song wondering what the fuck was going on.Then Ed reappears at the back
of the general admission area amongst the crowd 80 meters from the stage and jumps
on the audio and lighting board and starts singing from back there. The entire GA
section started running to the back of the arena. It was all crazy.
Anyway, that was supposed to be the last song, but Ed wanted to stay on,so after a
chat to the other band members he walked on and played turn my head.He still wanted
to keep going, you could see them discussing what to play, laughing and shrugging there
shoulders,Waitress,he forgot the words, they fucked it up heaps, but it went off. Then
that hendrix song finished it off ,the watch tower (whatever the fuck its called).
Anyway, they played a good 20 minutes longer than they were supposed too.Was an awesome
finish to the show, it went from a good show to just fucking awesome. Ed lost hs
voice halfway through the show,so he wasn't hitting the high notes, which isn't that
a bad a thing . Backstage he couldnt talk,still got some photo's and stuff signed,cool! |

God, how bloody good was that show
last night? That was the best show l have seen them do, probably equal with the first
time l saw them on the SS tour. And when a singer has trouble with his voice, that
is how he should get through it, bring the crowd in and keep going (Rob Thomas/Matchbox
20 take note, bad memory).
It was a pisser when Ed came up the back of GA, looked just like a swarm of locusts
surging towards him.
I can't pick one highlight, it all kicked arse.
Had a ball and the best weekend in ages, starting with Adam's great show on Friday
and the killer show last night. Didn't want it to end. |

What a show!! Was so funny during White,
Discussion, Ed walking off the stage and everyone was just like "Where is he?"
and he popped up at the back. WD was even better than the BOP tour (which was fucking
awesome already!), Chad T was going sick as usual and Ed just had so much energy!
Was so so cool to hear Waitress in concert and having the whole crowd singing "la
da da da". I think the thing that I enjoyed the most about it
all was the spontaneity of the extra bit in WD and the three songs at the end. They
really didn't have to give this to us, they'd already played 20 songs, had unbelievable
amounts of energy and Ed's voice was struggling (although I thought he did a great
job anyway), but they gave us this special little bit aside from that.
A few other things:
- the crowd was absolutely awesome, probably the most energized crowd of any of the
previous 5 shows I've been to.
- I loved how before they played one of Waitress or Along the Watchtower (can't remember
which one) Chad T was getting the crowd all fired up so they'd play another song,
lol.
- My girlfriend (a 'greatest hits' fan) loved the show and named Shit Towne as her
favourite song that she didn't know.
- Oh yeah, I don't think a chorus of any song gets the crowd jumping as much as Shit
Towne, love it!
- WDID is really rockin' in concert, really like this song but understand why it
wasn't on TC
- Setlist was great, however I could've gone for Rattlesnake instead of one of the
covers, but oh well, we really can't complain at all! Although before I die I have
to hear Rattlesnake in concert.
Anyway, I think I've crapped on enough. Can't wait to see them out here again soon
(Ed said next year, but we'll see, lol) and just wanna say again how fucking unbelievably
awesome the show was last night!!! |

OMFG!!!!! That was the single best
LiVE concert I've ever seen. Even with the few glitches (hmmm... not too sure about
the video work!) I was completely blown away. I cried when I saw the video intro
with the Overcome music (I couldn't see it where I was in Sydney), I cried when they
played Lightning Crashes and I BAWLED when they played Overcome. Although Ed was
having some voice problems those 2 songs were perfect, so moving, so touching. OMG!!!
And I'm not a crier in general!!!
When Ed ran to the back of GA and sang from there it was so cool!!!
I could rant for hours except I'm a little sleep-deprivated today...
IT ROCKED!!!!! |

Let me just add to how AMAZING the
Melbourne concert was. I hardly even noticed Ed's voice I was enjoying the moment
so much Not only that, but the fact that they kept going and going for what ended
up being over two hours!!!! It was great!!!
Haha... I LOOOOVVED Waitress, and I'm glad they stuffed it up. It made it that much
more entertaining, especially when Ed was like "I can't even remember the lyrics
it's been so f***ing long" mid-verse. Hahahahahaha.
And Ed running to the stage crew at the back was fantastic too. Everyone in the crowd
was frantically searching for where he was going to pop out I loved it all! White,
Discussion was unreal, and Lakini's... the whole damn thing! Both Chad's and Pat
went off too. Though I don't know if it was just me but I think Pat got going more
as the show went on. At the start he seemed really calm, but towards the end he certainly
got into it too I thought.
And now to the regrets I have...
#1 - I didn't jump high enough. I missed one of Gracey's drumsticks by mere inches!!!
I think it was about the 4th or 6th one he threw out into the crowd, and after I
gauged it's trajectory I took a few steps backwards, elbowed the people behind me
in the face (and apologised afterwards of course), but I didn't make a jump for it!
It was inches away from my hand! Aaarrrgghhhh!!
Regret #2: I f****ed up majorly and blew my chance to meet the guys back stage. Long
story short - I've had so much going on lately in my life that it never even occurred
to me to follow up Jimmy's efforts. So after Jimmy's hard work it didn't happen because
I didn't check my messages. Nevertheless, thank you so much Jimmy, and I HATE myself
for it! I really have let myself down this time.
All in all.... it was completely mind-blowing! And I heard that Ed did promise that
they'd be back next year! Hooray! |

WHOA!! That was soooooo good! I'm lost
for words. which is unusual for me. Highlight of the night for me was Lakinis Juice,
CT went off as always. I'm really sad coz I got some little videos and heaps of good
photos then I lost the memory card of my camera so I only have a few on a smaller
memory card but still got great shots all thanks to the beauty of zoom. I bought
Adams cd and I'm hooked it hasnt left my discman since, it's great. Took my friend
who didnt really know many Live songs, she's tottally hooked on them and was gonna
go buy all their albums, so next year she can sing along. Well, all in all, it was
the best show I've ever seen and can't wait for next year. Bring on the new album
boys! |

From one very tired fan, I have to
say Melbourne and Newcastle have been the most awesome shows I've ever witnessed
in all my LIVE shows I've seen (both for different reasons). That being said, if
I could tour the country and see every show.. the boys could play the same set list
at every concert, it doesnt matter.. they manage to totally captivate the audience
with fantastic differences.. so for future note to people who are thinking of doing
LOTS of shows for the next tour.. DO IT!!! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!
Now.. Melbourne (crowd-wise) was the BEST.. we Rocked out big time and responded
to the band in the manner they deserve.
The boys were on fire, the songs just kept coming (my voice was going, throat sore)
I don't know how the band manages to keep their voices so great on a tour... I didn't
notice Eds voice failing at any point.
Waitress was a dream come true... and I like others am glad Ed forgot the lyrics...
'cause it made it all more special.. LA LA LAA LA LA'S. The sound was fantastic,
regardless the boys just kept playing.. I kept dancing and rocking in the seats..
on a few occasions I almost fell over the guys sitting in front of us (sorry about
that) lol, the only time I sat down was to take my heels off so I could stomp along
with Chad.
All along the watch tower ... what can you say to that.. except OMG!!!!!! I believe
I actually looked at Gen a couple of seats down from me with a total look of disbelief
on my face.
IT WAS A FANTASTIC SHOW.. and a credit to OUR BOYS!
The weather was perfect for a show this size... helping the crowd respond as they
did.
THANK YOU LIVE, thank you everyone. Miss you all already.
And ED said... See you NEXT TOUR NEXT YEAR!!!! So no excuses.. start saving now people!!!! |

WOW!!! What a fantastic concert, yeah
Ed's voice wasn't the best, and yes he forgot the words to Waitress, but that was
the best concert I've ever been to!!! I loved it after Waitress how Ed was facing
the back of the stage just shaking his head, then turned around with a huge grin
on his face. The look on his face, was like, yeah I stuffed it up, but I'll put on
a brave face anyway.
If they come out again next year as promised, it will be shortest amount of time
between tours in Australia, but it's going to feel the longest time between them
too. I can't wait, I wish I could have done a tour of Oz, with them!!!
I feel so priveleged to have witnessed such an amazing concert. I hope the guys all
realized that we didn't care that they made a few mistakes (well I didn't at least),
I felt like everyone cheered even louder for them, to show them support!!
Oh the other great thing about the concert, was that i caught a guitar pick that
Chad threw. It was up in the air, being juggled by a number of hands... I saw it
start to fall, so I brought my arms down to my chest and hoped that it would fall
into my hands. I looked on the ground, didn't see it bouncing around and thought
I had got it... I walked away and then checked my hands, as I didn't want to drop
it and lose it. Sure enough there it was, sitting in my hands. So exciting!!!
They never stop getting better!!! Thanks Live for such an awesome experience!!! |

I just want to say that that show was
awesome. I have seen the boys in Melbourne 7 times now and that is the most the crowd
has been into it since 97. Everyone was there to party, everyone in our section (seating)
was up and dancing from the first song and most stood and danced and sung the entire
show. The band and the crwod just feeding off each other, sensational! That is by
such a long way the best 75 bucks I have ever spent in my life. Thankyou so much! |

Oh my god what can I say. This band
is amazing. This is the fourth time I have seen them in concert & I keep falling
in love with them even more if possible each and every time I see them perform. To
see a band play with all their heart and soul, & absolutely love it & the
crowd giving the love back just as much is just awe inspiring. LIVE are THE ROCK
BAND, the words, the music, the heart is just amazingly inspirational. We went in
a group of seven, our butt's never touched our seats, we sang & jumped to every
single song they played, we were espcially excited to hear 'The Distance'. If I had
it my way they would play every single song off every single album, because as far
as I'm concerned there is not one bad song, I know them all off by heart & have
passed on THE MAGIC THAT IS LIVE to my friends, my little brother & sister &
their friends. I hope to God that this concert gets released on DVD!!!! So Many more
songs needed to be sung but hey if they could I know they would've gone all night.
The energy & brotherly love on stage was the greatest thing to see. Ed has the
most beautiful voice, and I know this may be extremely tacky coming from a 28 yr
old but he is just so sexy!!! I could talk for ever about the Live boys, seriously!
I went to work early the next day, had to serve a customer, he was wearing a t-shirt
from the concert, so instead of helping him make a purchase we spoke about the concert
for half an hour. The greatest band in the world has the greatest fans in the world!!

Melbourne was arguably the second best
concert i've ever heard them do. Rivialing their best effort (i've seen) was March
2000 in Wollongong. Pity LIVE wanted to party on and the town had nothing for them
(they were a bit upset i heard). I was very concerned after Tuesday's Sydney show.
(sorry lads but i thought they were a bit flat). Melbourn'ians were right. Melbourne
bloody rocked. The fact the lads interacted with the crowd more really made it worth
while. It was great to see other artists make the setlist. U2, Johny Cash and Bob
Dylan. Very few recording artists today could get away with incorporating the likes
of them into a gig. I wanted like mad to see a rendition of "I Alone" that
featured a double medley with "bitter sweet symphony" and "a river
runs through it" that would have been unforgetable. |

This Live concert was unbelievable.
The songs from the "Throwing Copper" album sent the crowd into an uproar
but it wasn't until Live's earliest hits from "Mental Jewellery" came on
that the crowd went completely insane. I have never seen that many people forget
themselves in music at one time in one place. I am thrilled that I got the chance
to witness such a fantastic event and am looking forward to next year's tour. The
boys form Live are unreal and I am glad that spiritual messages in songs are such
a great hit. Thanks again guys.you really did rock! |
