Last night at the Civic was absolutely
awesome. I'd probably go one step further and say it's the best Live show I've seen.
The boys were there to party last night.
The friggin security wouldn't let anyone stand up for the first few songs but then
Ed stepped in and got everyone on their feet.
Setlist pretty much the same as Sydney except that they finished with WD, LC was
played mid-set. They did the best version of White Discussion I have heard.
During Lakini's Juice, CT was his usual rockin self, standing on the edge of the
stage (no barrier) he was into a bit of his trademark footstomping when his guitar
strap broke and "Ruby Lou" ended up in the front row of the crowd!!! So
here is CT standing on stage in the middle of one very hard rockin song with no guitar.
He was soon handed another one and the dude in the front row eventually decided to
hand back CT's misplaced guitar. At the end of the song CT shook the guys hand and
thanked him. Very funny part of the show...good recovery CT, you rock man!!!
Anyway that's just a few of my comments on the show, hope everyone else there enjoyed
it as much as I did. |

OMG, yesterday /today was a VERY strange
day... I only *just* got home from Newcastle. Dan, Drew, Kerrie, Racha, Holly and
I rented a Kia Carnival and it decided to break down in Newcastle... doh!!! A word
of advice to everyone... DON'T buy KIA cars... and don't rent cars from Europcar!
This car was virtually brand new, only 7000kms on the clock or something like that,
but it still died on us. Anyway, after exploring several options, we ended up having
to catch the train home... but the train didn't leave until 2:49am... so we had to
wait around Civic train station until then... and we FINALLY got back to Sydney at
6am this morning!
Sorry, but I need sleep, so I'll write a more extensive review later, including info
about the AMAZING meet and greet we had! |

Well last night was my first LIVE concert
ever, even though I have been a fan since 1997. Yay I am no longer a virgin LIVE
concert goer! Oh my god that was the best gig I have seen ever, it was so slick.
It rocked and I was pleased with their choice of setlist. My highlight was when they
noticed the banner that Friends Of Live - "Awake and On Tour people had over
the front barrier - Chad Gracey noticed and we all saw it too hehehe lol!!! I was
so glad that we got right up the front (chest touching barrier and hands over it
we had the best view in the house). One of my favs was Shit Towne as well as TSUFL,
Like I Do and Lighting Crashes.
For the people yet to see the show you will not be disappointed. Overall an awesome
concert that I was on such a high. |

BEST PERFORMANCE EVER. It was a slow
start. I was worried intially because I've seen a few shows at the Civic and they're
always great but sitting down doesn't really suit Live. "All Over You"
was really subdued and when "They Stood Up for Love" kicked in and not
many people were getting up (namely due to the fact that the security was telling
people to sit down) it dampened the mood a bit.
"Selling the Drama" started and people were still sitting. By that time
Ed had had enough and basically said "STAND UP! YOU'RE ALLOWED TO!" and
that was it. From then on there was no looking back.
Ed was struggling with a few of the high notes on the night, but that's about the
biggest thing you could find that could even possibly be a negative. Everything else
was great. As usual the Civic had an awesome sound. It's got great acoustics and
surprisingly (to some) it suits loud, heavy music really well. The low end sounds
awesome in there and the mix was great too (although I think sometimes there was
a bit too much reverb on Ed's vocals - made it a little hard to make out).
The thing that made the show so enjoyable was the fact that the guys seemed to enjoy
playing. They were up there having a great time. Sure there were hiccups (ie Chad's
guitar going for a little walk) but that didn't stop things. When stuff like that
happened it actually got better because the boys weren't just doing the routine,
they were making it up on the spot.
Just like in Sydney "We Deal in Dreams" was incredible. The laid back verse
works so well and then when the chorus kicks in it's huge. "Like I Do"
absolutely rocked and "Operation Spirit" with it's increased tempo was
just crazy.
I can't quite explain why it was so good but if you were there then you know that
we've never seen anything quite like what we witnessed last night. Sure people have
liked Melbourne etc because it's a bigger venue, but as they say bigger isn't always
better and I think it showed last night.
Newcastle, normally not known to be a standout Live performance ended up being the
best show I've ever seen. I've seen concerts from each of the tours and each time
the guys grow as performers.
Best Live experience I've ever had. |

The venue, The Civic Theatre, is a
early 20th century building with all the charm of intimate dinner party (That was
about to change!!!!) The boys were not on for at least an hour, So our Gracious host
and murderer of meat pies, took me backstage to check out Taylors extensive guitar
collection! (Seriously, I could've died there and then!) The boys arrived and looked
as though they were ready to blow the roof from this 100 year old structure! Time
to launch myself back to the crowd and get ready to be yet again, moved by the energy
that is LiVE!
As we had all been to the show the night before, we knew the opening song, which,
if you havent already seen the set list, i wont spoil for you. (Please dont look
at them, makes everything at the show that much more special).
People jumped from their seats in a sea of colour and energy to welcome their favourite
band only to be denied such an impulse by security guards and soft cock fans who,
and i quote "Couldnt see" (This is a LiVE gig is it not?) A few of us motioned
the boys to get the crowd jumping, but they had already started looking at each other
as if to say "what the f*#k!" Ed asked everyone to dance and thats just
what we did (with a few snide remarks to certain soft cocks).
What a performance, Ed lifted his shirt, much to the delight of many female fans,
and eventually took it off to thundering applause (not a dry seat in the house.....Sorry!)
Gracey thumped, Pat soulfully belted out the mood, Adam played and sang his heart
out and Taylor stomped his way around the stage like a kid not getting what he wanted!
Could we ask for anymore? (We dont need no one, to tell us 'bout heaven!) We were
there! But, the fun continued when Taylor, bent over the crowd whilst punching out
Lakinis', broke his guitar strap which saw the happless Ruby Lou (Chads turquoise
blue Fender jazz master) fall into the front row!!!!!! Chad watched in disbelief
as his beloved fell to the ground, then burst into a fit of laughter along with the
rest of us. All went well, with Taylor shaking the hand of the guy who retrieved
his guitar for him! Good on ya Chad!
I could go on, but you never get through this all in one day.The show, which many
agreed, was the ultimate thank you from a band who has entertained us and moved us
for over a decade! The Civic theatre gave Everyone a chance to see what it was like
to be up close and personal. Some of us, even closer!!!!
I went back stage just before the encore, to be greeted By Mr Taylor, who, to my
overwhelming joy, Remembered my name and asked how it looked "out there"!
I replied with a huge grin and congratulated him on a great show, which had yet to
culminate! I watched from the wings as the boys farewelled the Novacastrian crowd
with a few more songs.....What show......WHAT A BAND!!!
Now comes the time all fans dream about....Meeting the guys! We all had a bits and
pieces to get autographed which the boys were more than happy to sign. Pat, Gracey,
Adam and Ed said their farewells and left us all in the capable hands of our Host,
Mr Chad Taylor!
We were offered as much as we could consume (and some of us consumed quite alot).
There were skulling competitions, Some great fan/rockstar participation photos, including
the "now i'm miserable, now im excited" group portraits! A gentleman and
a scholar........... Chad, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for a night
we wont soon forget!
CHEERS, not only to the greatest band in the world, but to the boys themselves, and
especially to the the friends i have made. |
