It was amazing...anything would have been an improvement over Jennerstown, but they
put on one of the most memorable shows of my life. They were feeding off of the crowd's energy, which was so into it. I got to meet Ed, Adam and the Chads. I saw Patrick walk in, then I turned away to talk to Gracey and when I turned back around...no more Pat. So I can understand not getting an autograph or pic with him...but here's why I'm KICKING myself: though I did get Ed's autograph, I did not initially get a pic with him and when I went to do so, he had left. But Adam, CT and CG stuck around for a little while and were all awesome. Ed was cool, too, but the other three were great to meet and talk to very briefly. Aly and I even had a little bit of a conversation with Adam...I love him. The boys were drinking Red Bull (except Ed and his wine). CT's thoughts on Red Bull, Splenda and anything else that supposedly causes cancer? Something along the lines of, "Who cares? I'm gonna die anyway, so why not get cancer? And you lose weight with cancer!" So...I got each of their autographs twice (save Pat's; one for me and one for my little bro). And I got pics with them, minus Ed. Not bad, not bad. About my little bro...he's five, going on six...and he's a LIVE and Better Than Ezra freak thanks to me. He knows the words to a lot of LIVE songs and knows most of BTE's Before the Robots. So all week I was planning on picking up a copy of Awake for him and getting it signed and a surprise for him. I was home Thursday night through the morning and the first thing my brother said to me was, "You can get me an autograph." Yeah, how demanding of him. So he'll love it when I get that back to him!

I was at the Cleveland show last night, which was awesome. Per Ed, the CD (which he called "Songs from Black Mountain", not "...a Black Mountain" or "...the Black Mountain") will be release March 21st. And per Chad G (who was told by Ed), the CD's name came from the mountain that Ed's house in LA is near, which is all black with oak trees... not nearly as deep as I thought the CD title would mean.

The House of Blues in Cleveland was ready to rock on Friday night! LIVE took the stage a little past 9PM and tore through the main set. Main set highlights included: Mystery - this is the first time I heard this song and it ROCKS! It has the classic Live sound to it. Lakini's Juice - this song sent the energy level through the roof. I like the new sound of this song (heavier guitars). I Alone - this was the best version of this song I have ever heard. Show - this is my favorite of the new songs. I really think this should be the first single. The River is the weakest of the new songs...in my opinion.

The Encore was amazing! This is truly why LIVE is best band in concert. They brought their A game to these classic tracks. The band was spent from the main set, but they brought more energy than earlier in the night! The crowd kept begging them to do one more song and they kept going. Ed mentioned they should keep playing in the city of Rock and Roll. Ed said that Chad is trying to get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! Chad was laughing and rockin out. Ed then mentioned they wouldn't let a bunch of hicks from York, PA into the Hall of Fame. He said he better shut up and finish the song....... then they slammed into a extended ending of White, Discussion!!! They were ready to walk off the stage and the crowd kept them for Shit Towne (awesome) and Dance with You. The band thanked everyone and they left the stage. Ed grabbed his wine and looked back at the crowd and we were still going nuts! He grabbed his guitar and sang a solo of Overcome!

Overall the band was truly thankful for all of the diehard fans that have come to see them the past 10-12 years. Ed thanked the crowd numerous times. It was truly a great show even though the setlist was predictable. The new songs rock! Ed also mentioned that Songs from Black Mountain won't be out until March 21, 2006. He didn't mention when the single will be released. I'm curious why they are waiting so long on the release. Maybe they are rethinking what the single should be. If so, please make SHOW the single. Show a little LOVE to me! Thanks again fellas for a truly memorable night! Please get back to Cleveland soon!

This concert was a birthday present from one of my dearest friends who is totally in to the band. Several years back she gave me The Distance to Here for a Christmas present. I hadn't thought much about the band since their album, Throwing Copper, had been heard by pretty much anyone that enjoyed good music. When she told me she bought tickets for us to the concert, I was, like...okay. Cool. I wasn't in to them the way Christine was, but she assured me I was in for a great concert. I found The Distance to be a solid album, but I had no idea what I was in for!

This was my first concert at HOB in Cleveland, and what a night it was! It totally sold me on the idea that (sorry for calling it) Alternative Rock is, indeed, alive and well. Simply, this was one passionate night of live artistry I haven't seen in many, many years. The band showed incredible depth and emotion and I found it infectious. At the end of the evening I was impressed enough to want to borrow Christine's entire Live catalog to acquaint myself with them more.

I simply could not give you a more intelligent review than this, as for me it was a purely visceral musical experience and I found that totally refreshing. To go to a concert with little knowledge of the group's other works and and be exposed to so many great songs made the evening an incredible experience. I love you, Christine! Thank you!
