I know we all say this about the LIVE shows we go to, but I was totally blown away this evening at the Anaheim HOB performance. I have never been more proud of a crowd than I was tonight, the SoCal LIVE fans definitely showed the love, and the boys reciprocated. The place was packed (I believe this show sold out much faster than the 2004 show here at HOB in Anaheim), and it was a obviously a very knowledgeable LIVE crowd. Every song, every word, the fans were on it. From the opener All Over You to Heaven in the encore, I couldn't hear Ed singing often because the crowd knew all the words and was singing along so loud. Taylor went absolutely schizo tonight, stomping and jumping around all over the stage, he was obviously feeding off the fans energy. And Ed was about as animated as I've ever seen him on stage too, he had the strut going on big time tonight. The most rockin version of I Alone I've seen, and Heaven was memorable as well. A couple of highlights included Ed kicking Pat in the ass at the end of White Discussion as Pat was in his typical bass-plucking "dream state", Ed's comments about the Rolling Stones ("if they can play 3 hours, we can do a couple more", something about Keith Richards looks - who's got the reverse-botox going on with doctors taking it out of Keith's face and sharing it others who need it), and I want one of Gracey's T-shirts ("Lead Drummer"). They played five new songs off the upcoming SFBM (The River, Mystery, Love Shines, Sophia, Show) and Ed did say again that it would be coming out "soon" but no date. I have to say I like the new stuff too, typical LIVE slow-fast dynamic with each song starting mellow but then getting harder during the chorus. Ed was really feeling the new stuff, lots of smiles during these new songs. The show ended appropriately for the evening with the crowd serenading the guys as they literally stopped playing per Ed's direction and we just kept singing ("We all want to dance with you") as they stood together and listened and then left the stage. Sorry for rambling, but I just got home and still haven't come down yet...take care everyone.

They rocked. From the moment they stepped on stage, the energy was there. The fans knew it too, as the crowd was into every song. They seemed to know every lyric and sang along to almost every song. Last night's version of I Alone was definitely my favorite.

They played 5 of the new songs from SFBM. Unfortunately, few if any knew the lyrics to Show, Sophia, Mystery and The River. But I did! It totally rocks being able to sample and learn the new music as they start slotting them into their sets so you can sing along too. It makes the show that more enjoyable. Sometime towards the end of their initial set, Ed talked about Keith Richards and asked the crowd, "When we're as old as the Stones, are you guys going to still come see us?" and the crowd went nuts and cheered. I saw it as a sign of many more tours to come.

Surprisingly, it was a mixed crowd with plenty of young and old folks stacked with energy and charisma. It was the 3rd Live show I've been to and by far the most active and "into-it" crowd I've been a part of it. It was fucking amazing. We didn't want them off the stage either. They said goodnight 3 different times but we wanted them back and they rewarded us with THREE different encores. "White, Discussion" and "Dance with You" were total treats. The capacity is 1,200 at the House of Blues of Anaheim and it was completely sold out. I believe this kind of crowd is what Ed and the band feeds off of. Let's hope there will be more crowds like this and they're around to tour for years to come.

So take a lesson for you folks out there who sit around like tree stumps at Live shows. If you're going to go to a show, make some FUCKING noise! They love it and it makes the show electrifying.

This was by far the most intense Live show I have been too. The intimate setting, the love felt from the crowd. It was WILD! The eyes gazing above me, the wailing hands, the cluster of lights, the smiles, and the sounds of a spiritual circle breaking ground, rising up, becoming this wonderful feeling that no one could ever experience unless you go to a Live show. Trying to make it back downstairs after All Over You started, and throught the midst of a web of fans, I found a place in the back, dead center from Ed. Dripping in sweat, flying my arms, dancing to the music that has gripped my heart for over a decade. I brought my 52 year old mother to this experience. She said she felt sinful after staring at Ed like prime rib after he took his shirt off. She has been to many shows, but never Live. She called me today, and told me that was the most beautiful, intense, energy driven concert, and that I took her to the best show she has ever seen, and I agreed. A new Live fan was born.
