Wooa! What a great show!! It was the
first time I saw "Live" live (!) and I really liked the show! After a
very good prestation by Emm Gryner, Live came on stage at 9:12 exactly (I had a bet
with a friend about the time the group would come on stage and I predicted it perfectly!).
The setlist was almost the same as the other shows on the tour. I would have prefered
a little more originality...
After three songs, they played "All Over You" and it was pretty good! 4
or 5 songs later, the show really started with back-to-back songs Lakini's Juice
(very powerful!), Run to the Water, Dolphin's Cry, I Alone and Heaven. After that
song, the band left the stage. I was hoping that they would begin the encore with
Overcome... but Ed came back all alone with his guitar and he played Turn My Head.
It was excellent, but after this, I knew they wouldn't play Overcome... They finished
the encore with Selling the Drama, Lighthouse and Lightning Crashes (a song with
a big S!). The band left once again and they came back for a last song White, Discussion.
When the song began, I didn't recognize it at first and I thought it was a dull one.
But after a few seconds, Ed began to shout and I found the song really great and
powerful. It was a good idea to finish the show with that.
So, it was a really great performance by Live. I really loved the second part of
the show. The only negative aspects is the length of the show (only 1:30) and the
absence of Overcome. With the addition of that song, it would have been a perfect
night! |

The concert at the Metropolis was incredible.
Filled to the brim and overflowing with energy from start to finish. I had my concerns,
I thought Ed's voice was changing for the worse due to some recent bootlegs I've
listened to. This was not the case. His voice was as strong and smooth as I have
ever heard it.
Blowing up the stage with Like I Do as an opener was huge. They fed off the energy
of the crowd, and vice versa. Chad Taylor rocked with his solos in Like I Do and
Run Away. When Taylor begain his small solo in Like I Do, the crowd erupted in response
to the energy of Taylor and the sound. Along they way, they did a great job of working
in old stuff and new stuff.
Ed did a solo acoustic Turn My Head at the beginning of the first Encore, quite powerful.
Then the rest of the band came on and nearly blew the roof off with Selling The Drama,
LightHouse, and the spiritual LIghtening Crashes. Long before this point, the band
had the crowd in the palms of their hands. Everyone in that room felt the tremendous
energy and positivity that engulfed the Metropolis.
By the time I left, I felt like I was friends with everyone in the room. I have
seen 2 other Live shows, but this was by far the best. It was amazing, to see and
hear these songs that have meant so much to me over time, to be sang by not only
Live but by everyone else in the room. Ed sounded incredible. The band was awesome,
and everyone played and sang so well together. Their chemistry onstage was one of
the reasons there was so much positive energy in that room. An incredible experience. |

Awesome show! A sell out crowd that
was absolutely amazing. They sang along to all the hits and were into the show
the whole night. The band had extreme energy tonight as they fed off the crowd.
Total synergy!
Sweet Release was amazing live. I am hoping that it is the next US single. Lighthouse
and Heaven also rocked especially hard off of BOP. I can not wait for Live to come
back to the east coast and start playing She. Live is back!!!! |

("MercifulOne") of Montreal, Quebec |
Our bus from Quebec City got us back
to Montreal at around 12:30, and we got to the venue line at 1pm. We met Swami, Susan,
Susan's step daughter Lauren, her friend Corey, Scott and his wife, and a fan from
Holland (sorry I forget your name!) (I'm also sorry if I misspelled your names Lauren
and Corey) it was awesome hanging out with you guys in line, I know I had a great
time chatting with all of you and getting to know you. It helped time pass alot faster.
After about 6 and a half hours in line, we were allowed in the venue, and RAN to
the front row and secured our spots. So we waited there for another hour, until Emm
Mcgryner came on and played her same half hour set as the night before in Quebec,
with the addition of her Ozzy Ozbourne "Crazy Train" cover.
Live came on at 9:15pm, and once again rocked the room with Like I Do. The crowd
went off like a bullet from the beginning, and it totally rubbed off on the band.
You could tell they were having a great time. At one point, Ed said "This is
the Montreal I know!"
One thing stood out more than anything at this show however - the addition of Sweet
Release to the setlist!! It was flawless. Beautiful song - definately a highlight!
I've never witnessed a Live song concert debut! They cut out Voodoo Lady, which I
was just fine with me.
I Alone came with the Like A Stone medley again, which again, was a nice change.
Life Marches was well received by the crowd, nice to see. Heaven was played with
tons of passion, very nicely played. Turn my head acoustic again, aswell as White,
Discussion to close the show!!! Being front row intensified the energy 10 fold. Taylor
just has the time of his life during this song, it's great! I'm so glad I got to
see them perform it both nights.
We stuck around after the show and got a drum stick, some picks, and a setlist, then
made our way to the back of the venue with our friends we had met in line earlier
in the day. We stood by the busses and waited for the band to come out. Security
showed us a police warrent telling us to move back or else they would call the cops.
Of course, we didn't move back. We simply moved back a step or two on to property
that didn't belong to the venue. (Susan's idea - she fucking rocks) about 15 minutes
later the band came out, Ed came over to us and signed my setlist, aswell as Adam.
The Chad's, and Pat went right to the car. My friend Trysha went up to the tinted
windows, and tried to get Chad to come out and sign her stomach...instead, Chad taylor
wrote on the glass the name of the bar the band was going to for their afterparty,
and told her he would sign it for here there!!!!!!!
We bolted to a bar called "The Lodge" a few blockes away, and sure enough,
the band was there! We were all immediately told to stay back, but with Susan, and
Scott's connections, Scott, and all the GIRLS were quickly escorted to the afterparty
'area'
Now, us guys - namely Myself, my two friends, and Swami, were of course told we weren't
allowed up. Simply for the reason that we were guys. We couldn't beleive it. Apparently,
an afterparty is where the band gets to make-out, and grind with 20 year old girls
(namely, two of my best friends, Trysha and Breanne) Although they didn't kiss Taylor,
it was said he had been making out with several girls.
So us guys, only a 5 step staircase away from the 'afterparty area' could see what
was going on quite clearly, but were being held back by a bouncer. "Pass restricted
party sir" KISS MY ASS. Yeah, I'm pretty bitter about it, but I can't blame
it on anyone who got into the party. Thats the way it goes I guess.
Lauren and Corey were awesome, they would come back to us every once and a while,
and keep us company, let us know what was going on kind of. They told the band that
there were 4 guys, huge fans, waiting to try and come up to the party, and apparently
Ed said "Tell them not to go home, once a few people clear out, they'll be the
first ones up." This was while Ed was still semi-sober. Well, 12:00am rolls
around, then 1pm, then 2pm, then 2:30... and as we watched the band get more and
more drunk, in a way I didn't even want to go up to the party anymore. To be honest,
they were being assholes. Except Patrick, who recognized me from the night before,
and called me by NAME! They were drunk off their asses, and at one point Chad Taylor
and my friend met up in the bathroom, and he didn't even know his own name.
Regardless of the situation, we still had a good time Lauren Corey and Swami were
great to hang around with, but at around 2:30am we decided to give up and go home.
On my way out I passed an extremely drunk Ed on his way back from the bathroom -
shook his hand, told him to take care and I'll see him next time. He gave me a pat
on the shoulder and said thanks man.
My friends Breanne and Trysha told us all about what was going on in the actual party
on our way home, and said the band was fun for the first hour, then they just got
so drunk and out of it, they felt like leaving. and I quote "Taylor is such
a slut!"
Yeah, I did loose alot of respect for the band, as people, but I guess I also realized
a few things. I realized that holding the band higher than anyone else, and looking
up to them as much as I do, kind of serves no purpose. Sure, I still love the band,
more then anything, but in the end, they are just people. |
