This was an intimate gig produced by
STUFF Magazine at the outdoor club SKIN. There probably weren't more then a thousand
people there, and my group of four was maybe 25 feet from the stage. Doors opened
at 7:15 and the band hit the stage at 9, an hour late due to some sort of technical
difficulty with Ed's mic. (I think they got lost at the O2 bar )
Anyway, a GREAT show and for 30 bucks, one of the best investments in a ticket I've
ever made. Ed was right on target vocally, and the band was tight. No wasted time
on guitar solos or lengthy drum solos, either. Although, maybe a little rant on the
toms and cymbals would have been cool.
Opening with the powerful Like I Do, the set list also included all the standards
and radio-friendly tunes, plus Voodoo Lady, Life Marches On, The Sanctity of Dreams,
Dolphins's Cry, a KILLER acoustical Ed-only version of Overcome, Life Marches On,
and more for a total of 90-minutes of the boys from York.
This may rank as the best concert I've ever seen, no flashy pyrotechnics or over-the-top
laser show, just clean, loud, rock and roll from the current "best band on the
planet" (IMHO)
The crowd was VERY into it, and with the exception of a few "Shiny Shirt Boys"
as I like to call them (y'know, the rich boy fashion plates that were only there
to cause trouble and pick up the hotties at the fashion show afterward, THOSE types...blech)
everyone was mellow. I have NEVER been to a show where the crowd sounded so GOOD
singing along, and Ed was obviously appreciative as he held the mic to us at several
points during the show. Tht-th-th-that's all, folks! |

The concert was great!! Well worth the wait, the heat
and the foot pain, ha ha... We were about 3 rows back and had a great view of Ed,
Chad T. and Adam. Ed was in top form and very energetic. He sounded great and looked
hot as usual. Patrick looked exhausted but still did a great job. Chad T. was pretty
frustrated as he was having quite a few techincal problems, but he made the best
of it. Adam and Chad G. were rockin as usual . The highlight of the show for me was
that they played White Discussion which is one of my favorite songs in concert. The
band had left the stage at the end of their usual encore (after Lightening Crashes).
We all thought the show was over, but I couldn't believe it when the band came out
again with Ed saying something like "Sorry, there was a miscomunication."
and then they played White Disccussion!!!! I thought that song was out of the rotation
since they didn't play it at the Delaware show. The song rocked and the crowd went
crazy!! I think it was definitely the song of the night!! I was surprised that they
didn't play Lighthouse or Run Away, but they played all the other songs that they
played at the Delaware Show. I want to thank the band for a great performance and
for putting White Discussion back on the setlist !! I hope it stays!! |
