Last night was pretty cool. We headed
out to The Pierpont Inn after work with Christian to see Ed and hear him sing a few
songs. He wore a black wife beater and this bone necklace and what looked prayer
beads on his right wrist.
Sommer, the radio lady, told me that he had just come from LA and was having problems
with an air conditioner. He felt all sweaty and was looking for a shower. LOL Was
not entirely sure she was correct about the LA thing since I know he lives in Ojai.
She was very nice to us and remembered Christian's name even before I reminded her
and said again how happy she was that we won. She said that she hates when someone
wins something that she has taken the time to get out there for the listeners and
they are very bla about winning. I was very excited about winning and personally
think I sounded like an idiot on the radio but what the hell I won and was getting
this opportunity. She was very cool, I need to send her a thank you today.
We sat right in the front row, we were 3 feet from him. It was pretty cool. Ed came
out and sang three songs. Heaven, Run Away and Lightening Crashes and talked a little
bit in between.
He was really nice. I swear that smile could kill you if he looked at you for too
long. He told a funny story about the first time he heard Heaven on the radio. He
was in the craft store looking for a button when he heard it come on. He said it
was just him and 5 old ladies. LOL He said he thinks he may have stolen the button
because he totally lost track of what he was doing because of the song.
He mentioned that they were due to have a baby any second now and that he was reluctant
to even turn off his cell phone.
They asked him if there was one thing that he insisted on when he was on tour. She
(Sommer) said I know you guys are all really low maintenance but if there was just
one thing... he said protein bars. He has to have this one specific type of bar.
The rest taste like dirt or nothing.
All in all he was very friendly and funny. He didn't take any audience questions
just the ones that the radio people had asked for before he came out.
Christian had a great time. They were only allowing 1 autograph per winner but I
had him sign a glossy picture I had. He looked at it and said wow, this is old. It
was from 97. We also took what they had there and Christian asked him to sign his
FOL tee shirt which he did. Christian wants to frame it all tee and everything. He
is afraid to wear the shirt again for fear that the autograph will wear off.
They kind of ushered us out after that. We got home around 8:30ish. Very cool evening. |
