This was my fourth time seeing Live
and it was by far the best. The band sounded amazing all night, but I was afraid
it was going to be the same set list as every night. After Lightning Crashes,
Chad Taylor came back out and picked up a guitar and started playing a lot of feedback
right next to the amp. Then the band came out and they ripped through White,
Discussion. Ed of course did not sing the second verse. The guitar work
was absolutely amazing, probably the best I have ever heard from Chad. Then
they left the stage, but I knew they were going to come back because Gracey did not
bow before he left. The sound guys turned on the post-show music, some AC/DC
cover band, and after a few minutes Ed came out and started singing Whole Lotta Rosie
with the CD. Then the band came out and they played Dance With You, which is
my favorite Live song. This was the first time I had seen them play it.
The perfromance was outstanding. Hopefully this show was recorded and will
be released shortly. This is a must have show! |

Finally, Live mixed up the setlist,
a little bit. The show was awesome. There were a few sound problems throughout
the show but overall the band was into it all night. They played for over an
hour and a half. The crowd was into them and they seemed to enjoy themselves.
I would have to say that the crowd sang the loudest to Heaven, which helps since
it is such a recent song. Anyways, great show! |

Greatest concert I've ever been to!
We came all the way from Fort Wayne, Indiana to see it. We wrangled our way early
to the front row left of center, right in front of the speakers. It was so loud that
when the bass got going on "Beauty of Grey," air was literally sucked out
of my ears and then pumped back into them. I loved it. Ed has to be the coolest man
on the planet. I just loved seeing him sing songs off the new album, and his new,
sweeter take on the old songs.
My only lament - when Chad threw his famous drumsticks, one bounced off of everyone's
hands and flew over the railing right in front of me. I reached for them, but they
were too far away; I was just about to jump onto the railing when the girl to my
right threw half her body over the railing and grabbed it. I couldn't believe it!
I should've just lost a rib and went for it. But, at least I found out that the girl
next to me (who was there with a bunch of college friends who didn't really know
LIVE), was indeed a big LIVE fan when I said to her, "That's a Chad Gracey drumstick!"
(she was very aware of that) And, on a side note, I'd like to thank that drumstick
girl for her wonderful frottage--if I'd known you were a LIVE fan a little sooner
I would've given you a little more myself. |

Took a red-eye from San Francisco out
to Milwaukee for the show. Had a few hours of sleep and a nice shower before heading
over to Summerfest in the afternoon because I wanted to see Matt Nathanson as well.
Anyway as we arrived at the gate I managed to trip and twist my ankle which made
for an interesting day in a wheelchair. Gave me a totally different view of things.
As far as the bands, I am briefly going to say a couple of things about Matt Nathanson
and Ours I went to see. I hadn't seen Matt or Jimmy with a full band before and they
both totally rocked. Matt was funny as always though he was told that he had to keep
it clean and Jimmy Gnecco's voice is just incredible and they both surrounded themselves
with very talented musicians. Anyway check them out www.mattnathanson.com and www.ours.net
Now to LIVE, by the time 10PM came around I don't believe anyone could really move
anymore, the place was totally packed. I was way over to the right of the stage,
but had a good view. Actually spend a good amount of time watching Gracey which was
pretty cool. Man, does he hit those drums hard! The crowd was amazing, people were
dancing and singing along, and the band was feeding of all that energy. People really
seemed to know all the songs and not just the "classics" There were a few
minor sound issues during the show, but Chad's guitar solos totally made up for that.
"White, Discussion" was fantastic as always and "Dance With You"
was a very nice surprise. I had only heard the song once before live and that was
the first time I saw them back in 2000.
Also want to say that after the show the band took the time to sign stuff and pose
for pictures which was very sweet since they didn't have a lot of down time before
heading to the West Coast. |

I have to say that was probably one
of the best concerts I've seen in a while from Live. Not only that but Ours opened
up for them! Talk about a great lineup! The guys in Ours rocked! Adam came up to
watch them from the side and he was really getting into it! Great great band! Finally
I got to see them as a band and not Jimmy solo. This made my whole show being able
to see both bands I really dig.
The Live set was amazing, so much energy, and I have to say the crowd was just phenomenal,
everywhere you looked everyone was standing up and singing and boy was it packed!
Even the guys mentioned how cool the crowd was. Patrick said it was awesome seeing
the people in the way back on the balcony standing up and singing as well. They wouldn't
let them leave the stage, Live came back and did 2 encores. Very cool. White Discussion
rocked as usual, Chad nearly knocking down his cabinets again I really dig all the
little impromptu mini-solos he is interjecting into songs.
Have to say that was defintely worth flying out for. On Sunday the guys were still
talking about how great Milwaukee was and how awesome that crowd and show was. Hopefully
they'll be back for another Summerfest. |
