To my surprise the two girls behind me informed me that Ed was the second to last on the bill and this sparked hope of more than a 4 song set. It did...a 6 song set. All the other bands even the guy from 5 For Fighting played closer to an hour which made this a little hard to take but his performance was unbelievable. He came out right as the night sky took over and sported a military green wife beater and jeans. He grabbed the six string and started off once again with I Alone. The crowd ate it up. Austin was really into Ed way more than any band of the day. Next up was Run Away which got a nice reception, Ed was flawless... hitting every note and extending them way longer than is really humanly possible. He added some funk and soul to these songs like i haven't seen before and even added his little trademark dance moves while strumming the guitar. The crowd could not get enough and everyone was screaming for more when he ended with the dolphins cry and said thanks, peace and good night. The set list was short but the performance was worth the 2.5 hour trip to a-town. One side note; during The Dolphins Cry on the line "you wrap your legs around me" a helicopter flew by spotlighting the crowd at the exact delivery of that line like it was staged. Again the crowd ate it up and I heard nothing but praise from everyone walking back to the car.
