OK, this whole thing started out a little weird. We get there at about 4 and we see all of these people sitting in front of the stage in lawn chairs! I mean, we're talking 80 year olds and people with ten little kids and whatnot. So, we walk around the "street fair" which basically consisted of 4 rows of expensive art tents and some food. That took all of 45 minutes so then we went and sat on a curb until the Gin Blossoms came on. I also have to mention that the cicadas were out of control! Eww, they were everywhere. Flying into my hair, flying into Jen's italian ice! haha! Ewww!!!!!! It was really very strange!

We walked up front for the Gin Blossoms who were very good although they're not really my kinda thing. The singer was very cool though. He kept jumping off the stage and singing to people and singing into people's cellphones during the show. So, they finished up and the "chair people" basically got overtaken by a bunch of crazed Live fans. I don't think they had any idea what hit them. By the time Live hit the stage there wasn't a lawn chair in sight!

Onto the show. It was a great one! The crowd was pretty huge and really crazy in love with Live! They were going nuts and singing along. They really made the hometown crowd from the night before look pathetic! The band was really feeding off of that energy and you could tell they were really enjoying themselves up there. They sounded great and looked great! And I got to jump around and go insane without anyone looking at me funny! They did the same setlist as the York show with the exception of POD, which wasn't played. Great, great show!

It was a great show, shared with great people and I had one of the best nights of my life! See you next time!

What an amazing show!!!!!!!  And there were a shitload of people there too!  I agree that the crowd at The Strand was pathetic compared to this one!!  I just can't believe the amount of energy coming from the band...  And the fact that i was second row made it great too!  This show was, without a doubt, 10 times better than the strand show.  Now I have to wait until august to see them at Merriweather.

I just have to say that this show was soooooo much better than york. And even though the crowd was a HUGE pain in the ass, I think they also had a lot to do with why the show was so good. There were tons of people there. And everybody was really into it. A lot of people were real assholes though. We witnessed at least 4 fights. Fights between couples, between old men and young girls, between old ladies and young guys. I mean it was crazy. And I'm talking pushing and shoving fights. It was nuts. There was too much crowd surfing and me getting kicked in the head. Then there were the jerks who had front row reserved for themselves and their coolers! I'm sorry...I know they were there all day but if you bring your cooler and your lawn chair and plop right in the front row you're going to have to expect that by the time the band comes on you're going to get pushed around! Now, saying all this...I fucking LOVED this show. One of the best for me in a while. even better than ac. I just loved it. Lakini's Juice is my favorite concert song and I don't think I've seen it this good since the samadhi shows in 97. Maybe it had something to do with the Adam shaker/punch combination, but just everything was wonderful. It made me remember why I love this band so much. And even though there are almost never any surprises and I pretty much have the setlist memorized by now, I would still see them perform every night if I could. It was so amazing. York was good too... but the seats got in the way, the sound was not very good, the lack of energy from the crowd, and all the hype that surrounded that show made it sort of a let down for me. But this made up for it big time! I am so glad I went to Rockville.

Oh but here's an example of the crazy people in the crowd... as soon as we got there the Gin Blossoms were on (who were good, but a little boring) and so up near the stage this woman comes up from behind me and tells me how she's trying to get everyone to sit down so that they can see. I just looked at her and said good luck. But I was really thinking.. what the hell is wrong with you lady? Its a rock concert! People don't sit. Then before Live another dominating woman who would not let anyone near her own area as if she owned this piece of land, well she didnt even have her shoes on! I don't know.... it must be because it was a free show, but some of the crowd was just really retarded. That being said, it was a very good time! I can't wait for Columbia!!!!! Live always puts on a good show at Merriweather.
