We got to the track at about 11 am
in order to miss the traffic and walked around in the 90 plus degree heat for a while.
I was under the impression that the concert gates opened at 2 so, we go get in line
and they say they gates don't open until 3! The show was to start at 3 so I started
to panic! We must have asked 10 different people and not one of them had one single
clue as to which gate we should enter through, what time the gate would open and
where the stage actually was set up! Finally after an hour of running around on trams
and walking until our feet had blisters we found one gate that was open and the lady
let us right in without even showing our ticket! We finally get to the stage right
before the show and got a decent spot in the blazing sun. I have to add that while
in line at one point a few of the Nascar fans were talking about the concert and
they're like "yeah, Live, they sing that song about the placenta, right?"
You have to imagine it with a southern drawl.
The setlist was the standard one only a little shorter. They didn't do Life Marches
On and Ed did Turn My Head solo instead of Overcome. I was pleased with that since
it's one of my favs. The crowd was a pretty good size and they did seem to enjoy
the show although most of them only knew the older hits. I did notice a few people
that were really into it which was cool. I had a really good view of the stage and
I think Adam looked at me a few times. Awww. I swear Ed did too but, I could be wrong.
hehe!
They sounded really good, except for a few sound problems. They also had a lot of
energy considering the 90 degree heat. I, on the other hand, almost passed out! I
swear I've never been so hot and miserable in all of my life! But, just in case you're
wondering, even when you're almost sweating to death and the sun is blazing down
on you, it's still possible to get goosebumps all over when you hear the opening
chords to Like I Do!
I actually forgot about the heat and enjoyed the show. It was so cool to see them
in such a different setting and so far away from home. Oh, and did I mention that
Ed was wearing a black tanktop? GOOD LORD!!!!!! He was looking damn fine!
I also stayed for most of the race and even though I hate to admit it, I had a really
good time! I don't know if a lot of people realize the speed with which those cars
travel around the track! Holy crap! It was really cool to watch. A little added bonus
was that Lenny Kravitz was the Grand Marshall so he got to say "gentlemen start
your engines!" I don't know if the ladies on this board realize it, but GODDAMN
that man is HOT! Edwin Mccain did the National Anthem which I also enjoyed. They
also had fireworks and a flyover by a couple of fighter jets. Cool shit! |

The show was nice, not the best crowd
on hand, no one was really even listening until they started playing Lakinis Juice,
then the crowd started going crazy after that for all the classics. One guy nect
to me even asked me after they played Lakini Juice, "Is that a new song"?
I just laughed and said no its actually really old. Some stupid jackass's kept throwing
ice at Ed, I wanted to punch him. Overall, It was a good show by the band, not alot
of ebergy from the crowd but I kinda expected that since it was a NASCAR crowd. The
setlist was the same as The China Club show this month with the exception of Overcome,
Ed played Turn My Head instead although the setlist which I got after the show said
Overcome! |
