The concert was absolutely incredible
and the crowd was the best I've ever heard. The crowd was into every song!!!
It was really funny....before The Beauty of Gray, Chad T. starts playing the
opening chords of The Dam At Otter Creek....but then Ed goes...."that's just
a tease...we'll start practicing that soon...and we will play it for you next time".
Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to meet the band, although the band was partying
at "The Wave" (club at the Trump Marina) after the show. I did get
to meet Chad Taylor's parents in the elevator, though.
Oh, Taylor doesn't have his mohawk anymore! |

Went to see my first Live concert last
night in A.C. I have been a huge fan for the past 10 years... They were outstanding.
When we checked into the Trump Marina, one of the staff members said we just missed
them. They had checked in just minutes before we did... When we were given
our room keys, the gentleman that checked us in said that his manager upgraded our
rooms to the suites in the tower section of the hotel... As we came off the elevator
onto the 12 floor, sure enough standing in the hallway was Ed. He had a winter
cap on, but I recognized him. He was very friendly to my wife and I.
We just said "hello" and talked briefly. We did not want to infringe
on his privacy, so we did not say too much. We both were really impressed with
how friendly he was.
Needless to say, the concert was great and I am looking forward to seeing them again! |

Made it home at 5:15 this morning,
so be glad I made it to a keyboard already! LOL! This show was absolutely incredible!!
The energy level of the crowd was one of the best I've ever experienced, and the
guys really seemed to feed of it to deliver a maginificent performance!! Gotta say
I LOVE the Trump Marina venue for acoustics and the crowd who attends!
The encore was pure bliss!! The guys left the stage and the crowd never stopped cheering,
chanting, "We want LIVE," and applauding. Ed came back out on stage by
himself first and did a solo acoustic "Overcome." Then started STD by himself
before all the guys joined in, and they "finished" with LC. But instead
of leaving the stage once Gracey threw his sticks, they had a small huddle in the
middle back of the stage, between Gracey's kit and Chad's amps. The crowd was screaming
for W,D and we were thrilled when the guys went back to their spots. And they surprised
us by starting up again with "Pain Lies on the Riverside!" Then "Pillar
of Davidson" and THEN W,D!!!! Holy shit! The room absolutely went nuts!! Despite
some sound problems throughout the show for Ed and Chad T. (they couldn't hear anything
in the earbuds), the performance was outstanding! Everyone was drenched in sweat
and loving every minute of it!!
I really liked the opener, Ambulance a lot, too. BOught their cd and listened to
it on the drive home. Very talented guys who put on a great show! Highly recommend
them. Good to see everyone there! Was a night I did't realize I needed so badly for
so long!! |

Ok my review, just got home around
2pm on Saturday afternoon. Gods what a great fricking night. Don't ask me for the
set-list i never remeber them. But I will tell you this, I've been to alot of live
concerts, and this was probably one of the best every, the only one that comes close
was the last time they played the marina, I LOVE THIS VENUE.
The opening band was actually pretty good..very mellow yet very intense they has
some equipment issues but managed to get it fixed and rocked hard, meant to pick
up their cd but the line was to long and I wanted to sit.
Ahh then they come out. Our boys. Our favorites. LIVE! The energy and the passion
coming from the band was electric. They played all the standard songs, and Ed was
very pumped out, he made eye contact with me several times and made googly face at
me at which point I just about died of happiness of course.
Now normally I am not an emoitional person at concerts, but last night I cried over
three songs, Runaway, which is my current favorite tune, when Ed sings "I've
got the scars to prove that love has had it's day and it's way with me" and
then Chad launches into the guitar solo.. it's just amazing I don't even have the
words to explain the emotions that swamped me. Run to the water was the second song
that had be bawling..again the Hope and the passion and the sheer look of Joy had
on his face singing it passed out to the crowd and several people were crying during
this. The third and final time, Overcome, acoustic, Ed and his guitar, I like many
people when they hear this song just see the terrible images of that video float
through my brain and it always evokes tears. Ed's voice was pristine, no faltering
notes nothing he was at his best.
At this point i should note that Ed is looking quite buff, he's has arm muscles and
a mini six pack (Pony bottles) when he finally lost the shirt It took me a few minutes
to realize what was different...Ed didn't have Chest HAIR! Our boy waxed or shaved
his chest and let me say my friends he looked daaaayum fine. Taylor his hair back,
it looks good with sideburns, he busted out the 70's style hat which we haven't seen
in a few years but that man always looks amazing. Patrick is growing his hair out
and appears to have new tats. Gracey looks the same as always..gorgeous. Adam is
really getting into the grove, he must be taking dance lessons from Taylor cause
several times they were doing the same moves. Was veyr cool.
Now the Highlight of the night for me and what made this show extroidinary. They
played pain lies on the riverside!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went fucking nutz, that's
the only away to explain it, rocked out hard it was awesome to hear that in concert
again. They guys all appeared to be having a great time, heck even SuperPat was boogieing
down. The energy level was great the crowd was awesome I didn't get crushed into
the barrier. The two hour show was quite a pleasant suprise and the 2nd encore they
tricksied us, cause Gracey had already throw out his sticks and adam tossed some
picks, everyone thought they were done, then they did a group huddle and decided
to keep going. Taylor came up to the mic and asked if we wanted more, we ofcourse
screamed yes.
One reason this venue is so great cause is cause of the casino's I won money :P and
the band can be spotted gambling (Congrats gracey with the huge stack of chips at
the roullette table).
Later that night (Much later) we went to the club in the casino and low and behold
ed taylor and adam are there, dancing and grooving and having a good time. Taylor
decides he wants to play with the band (Don't call me francis) My GODS! that man
can wail! that guitar was pratically smoking as Taylor played Roadhouse Blues by
the doors. i've never seen such finger work, I have pics of this that i'll post later,
and HE can sing! He's actually got a really good voice, I've only ever heard taylor
do backup, but he could easily step into the lead singer role.
I think that's everything besides the embarising parts that i won't mention here.
I'm gonna go to sleep now..later! |

Please excuse the four letter words
in this review, but it's the only way to describe this concert. The concert was absolutely
fucking unbelievably amazing. This was by far the best concert I've ever been to.
The band was totally into it, having a great time, and appreciating the fans. The
crowd was insane. This venue rocks!
The night started after we checked into the hotel. We get onto the elevator to go
up to our room and who gets on the elevator but Ed and his friend! I saw them before
they even got on and I'm saying to myself "Holy fucking shit, I'm about to be
on an elevator with Ed". I've never met him before, and this was a huge thrill.
I'm nervous and stunned and I didn't say anything. I thought that I'd respect his
privacy. I'm looking at my friend as if to say, can you believe this?!?! Then my
friend says to Ed "Are you Ed?" He says "yeah" and we shake hands
and introduce ourselves. Now I'm psyched. Ed was very nice and very personable. But
I'm kicking myself that I didn't say something cool or witty.
We go to the room, get changed and then go to the pizza place in the lobby to get
some slices for dinner. And who walks up behind us but Ed and his friend. Now I'm
saying to myself "Holy shit, here he is again. Ed is stalking me." Again,
very cool.
As others have stated, the opening act was great! They should have a recording contract.
Live was absolutely fantastic. Ed was relating to the crowd throughout the show,
encouraging everyone to sing along. Ed said several times how much he appreciated
the fans and how great the crowd was. He also said several times that Live will be
around for a long time, that they still have a lot of music in them, that they are
still young and they had a "head start" because they started early and
that they will be doing this for years to come. He thanked the fans for making it
possible for Live to stay together for 15 years. It was obvious that the band was
really enjoying themselves. Chad T confirmed that to me the next day. More about
that later...
It's become obvious from the recent television appearances that Ed has been working
out. About half way through the set, he tears his shirt off and lo and behold, the
dude's REALLY been working out. He's ripped, muscular and as Beth mentioned, shaved
down. He went through more than half the show with no shirt on. (Disclaimer: I'm
a fully hetero guy -- I'm just making this observation for the lady readers of this
post).
Ed kept going to the back of the stage and was apparently drinking wine right out
of a bottle. I thought that was very funny.
They played not only the standard "must hears" on the set list but also
ALL of the "altenate" songs on their recent set lists. Shit Town, Sweet
Release, Beauty of Grey. The special bonuses were Pain Lies on the Riverside, Pillars
of Davidson and White Discussion to finish it up. I can't believe I got to hear POD!
After the first or second encore (I lost track), after Chad had thown out the drumsticks
and you thought it was all over, the band huddled up on the stage and had a conversation
for what seemed like a minute. Then they just started jamming again. I don't know
if it was planned, but it really seemed like they were having so much fun and getting
so much love from the crowd that they didn't want to stop. The show lasted over and
hour and 45 minutes.
White Discussion was fucking awesome. Chad T was going absolutely fucking nuts. Ed
was galluping around. The crowd was screaming, singing along, hands in the air, jumping
up and down. At the end, Ed tells Chad G. to go nuts and all of a sudden Chad looks
like "Animal" from the muppets. The drums start working overtime, and Chad
T is jumping around, stomping and flailing like an insane person. The moment was
out of control. Just when the song seemed to come to a conclusion, all of a sudden
Chad and Chad go nuts again. Ed jumps up on the drum kit and starts throwing the
microphone and mic stand into the drum kit. It was sheer pandamonium.
The whole time during the concert, particularly when everyone was jumping up and
down and head bobbing, the floor in the room was bouncing up and down like a trampoline.
I'm thinking, Oh God, this is going to be an 11:00 news moment that is a cross between
the Delaware Avenue (Philadelphia) Pier and a Great White concert! I'm wondering
how many feet there were between the floor and the basement and who was going to
land on top of me when the floor collapsed.
Everybody sang every word of every song. It was a truly religious expereince. Ed
seemed to visibly get a great deal of satisfaction out of hearing everyone sing the
lyrics to Heaven. He kept holding the mic out for the crowd to sing the lyrics. I
was wondering how cool it must feel to hear everyone sing lyrics that you wrote.
Especially, "I don't need no one to tell me bout Heaven, I look at my daughter
and I beleive". That was over 2,000 people singing lyrics that Ed wrote about
his daughter. It was pretty cool.
So the next morning, my friends and I go to the restaurant for breafast and bump
into Chad Taylor. I went over to him and asked if he would mind signing an autograph.
I've got to tell you, Chad was one of the cooolest, most down-to-earth guys I've
ever met. He talked to me like I was an old high school buddy or something. I mean,
he was genuinely excited about what a great time he had in AC. The first thing I
said to him was "I am a HUGE fan." And he says to me "Really, you
don't look that big." I started laughing my ass off. I told Chad it was an incredible
concert the night before and he started telling me how much he and the band enjoyed
it. He said it was awesome and they had so much fun. Chad said how great the opening
band was and that they did an awesome job. He told me that he was jamming late into
the night with the band in the Waves night club. Damn, I wish I had gone to Waves
instead of Hooters afterward! He said that when he played with the band in Waves,
they were "on fucking fire" and that he had a blast. I told him that I
read all of the tour diary entries and that I really appreciated that he takes the
time to write them and he said, "just wait until you read what I write for this
concert". I can't wait, Chad. You are the man. Thanks for the autograph and
for being so damn cool. |
